I was just implying the starting 5 that would be on field in standard nickel situations. I do like Dunbar as well. He's a true Skin.

Overall, if healthy and with a few key acquisitions, this team could take a huge step forward between last season and the upcoming one!

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
You guys are starting to get on my crabby old guy nerves about picking up developmental players in the draft. What have we got, 6 picks?
We NEED: 1. A Left Guard. 2. A run-stopping DL. 3. A capable starting RB. 4. A WR who is a deep threat. 5. A pass rusher to complement Ryan Kerrigan. 6. A TE who can and will block. 7. Another starting ILB. 8. A slot corner. 9. A PR/KR. 10. Probably something else I forgot. Even counting any FA signings, how are we going to come up with what we absolutely must have, plus additional developmental players? We are a lot farther away from a complete team than people around here think. We've got a lot to do in FA and the draft and I don't think we can get it all done this year no matter how smart we play it. |

1. A Left Guard: Yes we do need an upgrade at LG, I hope we sign/draft one. But healthy, our OL is capable, it's not like Lauvao is Catalina... Long can also play guard if Roulier steps it up at center. I agree it's a need. But it's not a gaping roster hole. 2. A run-stopping DL: We could use an upgrade, I do hope we draft one DT in the first 2/3 rounds. But remember when Allen and Ioannidis were healthy? Our defense looked way better. 3. A capable starting RB: no arguing this one. I said over and over sign Crowell, or Lewis. 4. A WR who is a deep threat: no arguing this on either. This is a MUST. I'd say FA (or trade... Bryant for Cravens and a 4th?). 5. A pass rusher to complement Ryan Kerrigan: if we can bring Galette back at a fair price, and the inside pressure is there, I can live with Kerrigan on one side and Galette rotating Smith opposite. 6. A TE who can and will block: we sure could use one. But Sprinkle may very well develop into that guy. 7. Another starting ILB: assuming we bring Zach Brown back, I'm not sure I agree. Brown and Foster are legit starters. Zach Vigil played really well when he stepped in, I think what he did for us is under-appreciated because he came in when we pretty much had lost any hope in our season. And Spaight is a capable back up. 8. A slot corner: I do hope we draft one. But as said above, Norman, Breeland, Moreau and Dunbar is not a group of CBs that we should feel uncomfortable with. 9. A PR/KR: OK... I admit I forgot about this issue... 10. Probably something else I forgot: Maybe... Some will say fire every one from the HC to the water boy if we want to stand a chance at anything... But I don't see anything else.

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
You're absolutely right. I forgot Lauvao was a FA (we talked about it many times but... Mental fluke).
So we absolutely have to land one, good ones are available in FA, and I think that's a position you can expect to draft and start immediately. My reasoning was based on the fact that we'd sign Brown and Breeland. If we don't we have to find replacements in FA. I also assume Long can be signed relatively cheap. He's among my must re-signed guys. Good polyvalent OL, must have.

Love Taylor Ham and American Cheese on a hard roll with butter and mustard. Easy to order in Long Island, not so much in South Carolina.
Have worked in a golf grill kitchen sort of part time for the past 10 years (I take most of my pay in free golf), and we put together a homemade meatloaf sandwich with bacon and American cheese melted over it. All on a toasted Kaiser roll, the whole thing about 6 inches tall. Big seller! |

Re: Redskins 2018 Off Season Re/Signings
Obviously an egg on just about anything makes it a win, but the egg overrides the ham and makes it an egg sandwich in my book. If we’re talking ham sandwich, have to leave the egg off. |
