Firing Shanahan and hiring Fisher = dumb

Firing Haslett and hiring Fisher = brilliant

Make him the highest paid DC in the league and let's call it a day

I know, total Madden move, but it still sounds good

I say yeah, Fire Haslett and make another contract that we will hopefully make good on or if not be satisfied with Shanahan. Years back we had a contract term with GWilliams that if he wasnt the heir apparent to Gibbs we would pay him extra $million/s. We let him go and somehow elevated Blache and hired Zorn and elevated Zorn. We got triple screwed . Maybe we can lure in a great mind and have a fail safe when Shanahan fails to live up to his own ego/shadow.

Shanahan and Fisher share a connection when they worked for the 49ers, Shanahan as OC and Fisher as DC.

I'm pretty stunned that the Titans let Fisher go. I didn't see that one coming. And it's too late for Fisher to get a HC gig in the NFL so if he still wants to be a HC he's gonna have to wait a year. What would be scary is if he is willing to be a d-coordinator and the Eagles get him, I think he'd be able to do a bang up job with that d.

Eagles already got Washburn as DC. Something smells rotten in Tenn. I think the owner is really pissed at him and waited till all the openings were filled before firing him.

So we cut our loses with the 3-4 defense and go back to the 4-3?

Yep.
Hasselbeck is his only success. Hue Jackson has destroyed him in coaching the other two QBs there were under his tutelage.

Fisher:

Fisher's teams had to play against Manning (within the division) and Brady for a lot of these years. Not an excuse, but definitely a huge hurdle to overcome in the playoffs.

Gibbs had to coach against Parcells, Jimmy Johnson and Buddy Ryan. No excuses!!

Different NFL. I'm not making excuses, just putting things into perspective. Also, I don't think Fisher is a better coach than MS, just pointing something that I'm sure affected Fisher's playoffs record.

If anything, competition should make him a better coach. He had lots of talent but couldn't win the big one in 16 years. If I was a Titans fan I would also welcome the change. If you had a coach for 16 years and makes it to the playoffs here and there but not more, wouldn't you want a change? I want championships!!

Well if you were a Titans' fan you'd be concerned at Bud Adams' ownership.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

Fisher has only had 6 winning seasons out of 17? Is that correct
