Sorry but I don't think the guy is worth that, in fact I THINK THE NINERS will regret this deal

That's a lot of money but JG is still pretty young, he won all his starts. I can't name any of his WR's. He showed them enough obviously.

49ers are fucking idiots. In no way did Jimmy G have any leverage to be paid the highest of anybody in the NFL. You don't pay a guy with a handful of games 27mil/yr. Sure he might become a hall of famer, but that is besides the point. His ceiling is higher than Kirk's is, but Kirk is much more proven. Expect Kirk to hit the 28-30mil/yr if Jimmy G is worth 27.

Did the 49ers really have a choice? They weren’t going down the road the Skins just went down by playing the tag game. They had to pony up, this is how it works.

Actually yeah. They could have extended that contract prior to the trade. You have a choice in whether to make a bad contract or not. See Houston with Brock. See Seattle with Matt Flynn. See Baltimore with Joe Flacco. You do have an option to overpay for talent or lack there of. Jimmy is such an unknown, so it's even more foolish.

It would be different if the team was a QB away from knowing they can win a SB, that team is ass and needs a shit ton of talent, now it will be like the colts roster or ravens roster, QB and avg players all around him.

Re: Around the NFL Off season thread 1.0

This move makes BA look smarter IMO, he didn't cave to overpaying a Good not Great QB, and he goes out and gets a proven guy that has won playoff games, something KC and JG have not done yet, hell maybe never will. He also paid him less than those guys so that the team can go out and sign a few FA's that can come in and help now...

Remember SF also gave PG A fat contract of 50M last yr, and yes we missed him but he ain't worth that kind of money.

Bruce has done better than most think honestly.

I agree, there is no way a QB with 7 starts deserves to be the highest paid player in the NFL.....2017 stats 7 TDs - 5 Int.

Re: Around the NFL Off season thread 1.0

They beat a good jAGS team and a missed FG by Tenn other than that they beat bad teams and a rams team with no starters... Not impressed

Maybe they tried? Maybe he wasn’t open to a deal prior to the trade?

It's how it works, yeah. Doesn't mean it's wise, though because the teams that make or win the SB are more often those with a "bargain" at QB.

Eagles - $15M combined on Wentz and Foles. Wentz gets them there as a high draft pick.

Patriots - Brady is paid under market value.

Seahawks - Russell Wilson was on his rookie deal when they won.

Ravens - Flacco was on his rookie deal at the time.

What you never see is middle of the road QBs paid top dollar taking their teams to the SB.

Don't forget AS with an average contract.

This is where I disagree. Lynch is a borderline HOF player and Kyle is as good as anyone in the NFL running an offense. They saw enough both in the games he started for them, but also in practice and picking up the system, leadership and so on. On top of all that he did have a couple games w/ NE. It's a lot of money but if you like the QB that's in your building then why mess around? The system isn't perfect, SF may have overpaid a bit but they got their guy locked up.
