Re: So long Mason Foster

I am not assuming here but maybe it has to do with freeing up cap space for our 2 lineman

Re: So long Mason Foster

While I'm not disappointed with this move, this is a surprising move given the fact we only have Harvey-Clemons and Holcomb behind Foster and Dion-Hamilton? I assume there is a chance we will resign Foster at lower cost or sign someone who has been released by a team recently.

Re: So long Mason Foster

Solid tackler but lacks speed and is horrible in coverage.. It's not a huge loss IMO.

Career grade of 59.8.

Meh

I'm hoping this means H-C or another young guy is showing a lot of promise.

Foster can't run with the backs in the NFC East and he is constantly bitching about something. It's time to go.

Haven't forgotten about him, I'd love to see them two as a nice combo

Also, the Redskins could use the cap savings to possibly re-do tackle Trent Williams' contract. After releasing Foster, they'll have approximately $12 million cap space. Williams will likely miss the start of training camp as he remains upset over some of his medical care. It's uncertain if a new deal would appease him, however. He has two years remaining on his current contract.

The Redskins also want to extend guard Brandon Scherff, who is entering the final year of his contract. The sides started talking in January.

The moves saves 4 million? Pretty good...I’m betting this is more about what Keim says about our Oline

No chance.

Only way he plays inside is at strong side LB in a 4-3.

He lacks the speed and skill set to play ILB in a 3-4.

We disagree on that.
I think he has highly underrated coverage abilities. He's a smart player who made some nice plays in zone coverage.
He had some bad games and is not athletic, but on many games his smartness and toughness made up for it IMO.

Now, maybe last year's instagram turmoil wasn't 100% cleared up, and if the move ends up helping solving the TW and/or the BS situation, I'm fine with it.
