QB, o-line, defense didn't play all that well in a few games either. They got ran over last week by Clev which is inexcusable.

You can't just hand him the job after one start, he has to earn it. But he no doubt should be given every opportunity to win it. I think he has to compete w/ someone. Who that someone is is the question. But I'm not bringing in another high priced retread a la Carr. We have to get out of doing that.
He moved the O when given the chance as he was handcuffed, ran for 4 1st downs, threw passes that were dropped and were on the money and had a couple of non-called pass interference, made quick decisions. I've seen enough to crown him the starter as I am confident he will win that battle with whoever they bring.

I think it's better if Heinicke leaves too. Not because he did anything wrong. But he's not a starter either and he might be used as a security blanket next year.

Give me Howell, a mid-round pick for competition, and a cheap solid vet that knows his job is to be No. 2 on gamedays. And possibly a starter if someone gets hurt.
I'm fine with Heinicke coming back. He is as good as a back up as you're going to get. The goal of the backup is if your starter goes down then you can still win games w/ your back-up. Heinicke has proven he can do that. He knows his role.

Actually the more I think about it I'm making it a priority to resign him. Then I am drafting a QB, probably in the 4th round.

When the offense cant stay on the field and gives them no hope of victory Id imagine its alot tougher on the D. Fuck Rivera and his Wentz bullshit. Should never have to see either idiot anywhere near our team again. Oh and Scott Turner is a fuckin fraud just like Ron. Time to clean house and move forward with Sam. Best thing about him is he knows exactly when to tuck and run. There is zero hesitation.

We shall see what happens within the next week or so. My guess is Ron is coming back. He still has two more years left and Dan is still the owner, and probably will be for the next couple months.

No way. Howell is just as good if not better than Tony Richardson and thats about the best thing that is falling to us in the first. Get a top notch corner or Oline both of which will be there.

Damn it punch. No! We need to get the best qb prospect available.
We need to do that every year till we get the guy.

Heinicke is a great No. 2. If he was signed as exactly that, I'd be fine with it. But I'm assuming the same coaches are coming back next year. I don't trust this staff and Heinicke is due for a significant raise.

I'd rather go Howell, Mid-Round Pick, and a Brissett/Taylor/Dalton type veteran.

Howell should have been a 1st rounder, NFL experts are obsessed with height, he's short for QB standards. Give me a smart, tough, gutsy QB that makes quick decisions and is mentally tough. That's what Howell is, reminds me of JoeyT minus the arrogance.

If we had any semblance of an oline, a real OC, and BR and AG running today Howell would have been all we need. Dude has a gun, and wheels, and he knows when to run. He simply needs experience. No doubt we would be in the playoffs if he started all year. Number one priority is oline. Then CB, and ILB. Get a more consistent kicker and this team will be in business.

Watched him a bunch in college I know he can be a good quarterback in this league. With quarterback play like we saw today we probably beat the Giants twice, the Browns, Titans, Minny, and maybe Detroit. Quarterback play is what held us back in all those games. It is mind numbing that this staff couldn’t see that all year long.

Sone of us believe that Sam is gonna be the guy ! I’ve seen a lot of those can’t miss guys flop .. I like Sam better than Most of the Qb drafted in front of him .. including Pickett and Willis .

You would think with the recent success with shorter QBs it would change but unfortunately they want to see Josh Allen’s of the world

Howell has potential and I’d like to see him in a full season. It will also depend on who the GM is if a new Owner is in

So if the best QB prospect isn't as good as the prospect you already have when your 1st rounder comes up (and that will be a strong possibility) you (as GM for the day) would draft him with your first pick (Even if you could probably wait 3-4 rounds to draft him anyway)???????
