I don't know a ton about how these things work, but if the hired an architect and have drawings that means they have a site already right? Usually you fit the design to whatever site you have. If the have a site worked out and it hasn't been leaked that in itself is impressive.

I think your link got cut off but I found it on their site. Good read, it has me excited thinking about the possibilities. We all know Dan would love to make another stadium that is unique for us.

getting plans done doesn't mean there's a site already. danny can tell them everything he wants it to have, they can figure out the cost and footprint and use that to find the best site. plans can also be reworked if the site doesn't conform to what they want.

i just hope they pay attention to traffic and transit this time.

Truth. To me that's just as important as how cool the stadium is.

I don't want to start a new thread for this but I just saw a potential model for the new stadium and I think it looks awesome. I know some will say "too potato-chip-y" but it looks great. My only concern is acoustics, if it will be an outdoors stadium I'd like something that makes the acoustics sound like the Seahawks stadium.

why would you design a stadium in 2016 without a retractable roof? that's important when you want to host superbowls or use the venue for concerts or whatever.

Looks like the Old Cap Center with out a roof.

that's was my first thought too- it would be nice to host a Superbowl someday. I doubt they will get it without a retractable dome.

Idk, I think there's a lot of factors that go into having a retractable roof. Cost being the obvious one, plus the weather. Plus if you go retractable it could affect your field choice, and maybe they want to keep using grass instead of Fieldturf. So if you go grass do you do a retractable field too? If you want a retractable field then you need more land. Do we play enough games in bad weather to warrant a roof? I don't think so. As for this design, maybe they went open roof as a homage to RFK, I can see a passing resemblance in the design. Maybe that was one of DS's requirements, I remember it being mentioned when the topic first came up. Either way with or without a roof I will be happy. Besides, i think having a roof as a requirement for the SB is a little outdated since the Giants stadium went well.

if you want to make money, the roof helps get non football events. since it's only used for football 10 days a year (or less if you play in london), it makes sense to make it multi purpose. it could help defray the cost, and you know they're going to try and force taxpayers to foot most of the bill.

the giants SB might have gone well, but what if there's a severe lightning storm? how happy is TV going to be with a 2 hour delay?

I like that the design appears to have a least one hump around the rim. Pulls on all the right RFK heartstrings.

The moat is a joke. Can you imagine how nasty that is going to be after a while?

it's because it's a euro design firm, if you look at some of the newer apartment complex designs in denmark etc, they have bike paths that go to every apartment (even on the tenth floor), gardens on the roof, etc.

i can't imagine them actually putting a moat around a stadium though. besides being expensive and providing no return, it also creates bottlenecks on the bridges, which is bad for a place where 80k people are going to come in and leave at one time. it's also a security and safety issue.
