I don't know. I feel like they partly let it go because he's a "big guy". When someone like Romo gets hit like that his vagina prolapses, so it looks a lot worse to the refs.

Still, I don't have a ton of sympathy when he's wanting to run between the tackles. You want to play like a big boy, you've got to take the big boy hits.

I agree that once you become a runner, you should be treated like a runner but those helmet hits came when he was a passer. There is a gif out there of the hits.

I dont want kirk taking those helmet to helmet hits.

Kirk generally gets the ball out quick and doesn't get hit like that.

Cam is just a beast, it's amazing how much punishment he can take.

Seriously, you are going to get me arrested by TSA. I am on a cross-country flight, and when I read, this, I laughed out loud (very loudly, in fact). The woman next to me read the screen, glared at me in a way that suggested she did not share my amusement, and then stormed off to the back of the plane (I suspect to complain about me). So I am typing this before she returns, and informing you that someday, revenge will be mine.

(Seriously, one of the best Warpath comments ever.)

Re: Around the NFL Week 1!

With all this talk about the NFL trying to protect players I could not believe they didnt take Cam out to test for concussion. That was a viscous hit to the head he took.I see on ESPN that the NFL said this:

"The NFL said in a statement Friday that medical personnel, including the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant, reviewed video of Darian Stewart's final-minute hit on Newton. They "concluded there were no indications of a concussion that would require further evaluation and the removal of the player from the game," the league said."

I think thats bullshit, how can you tell from a video and be sure? You cant.Sometimes it might be obvious but other times it's not.And what morons are watching the video anyway? Who was watching video last season when Case Keenum was concussed and they didnt take him out?

I'll be heading to Mexico next Sunday, so if I have cocaine in my bag, I'll know it was you.

Happy to report that TSA did not arrest me upon landing. The woman in my row, however, was a tad frosty to me -- much like one would say that the Pacific Ocean is a tad moist. Her reaction, unfortunately, also seemed funny to me, and I was stifling a laugh the rest of the flight (which I suspect she knew). Nothing like suppressed laughter.

Wouldn't plant stuff on you -- would want Mexico to accuse us of sending them our drug dealers, etc.

Re: Around the NFL Week 1!

If KC took hits like that and there were no calls we'd all be furious. Cam is a big boy and doesn't need daddy to stick up for him, but he's right. There is absolutely no consistency with the refs and it's been going on for years. One of those hits the defender launched his head right into Cam's helmet. Really looked dangerous.

Re: Around the NFL Week 1!

Let's be honest about the hits on Cam.

First of all, the Broncos were head-hunting. That's wrong to begin with.

Secondly, the officials did a horrible job of penalizing the Broncos - and thereby helping to protect Cam - for at least four helmet-to-helmet hits on Cam that I counted.

Thirdly, the NFL once again demonstrated that it is not really serious about player safety by having a neurologist on the sidelines look at a video to determine if Cam was concussed rather than examine the player in person when the player was standing right in front of him! The referee could have called an official's timeout to have Cam looked at on the field if he didn't want to make Carolina take out their starting QB during a last-minute drive.

Also, a non-personal foul penalty should not be allowed to offset the penalty for a head-to-head hit. They are not equivalent. A rule change is needed on that to help protect the players.

Lastly, if that had been one of our sons out there taking that uncalled for beating, I'm betting that most of us would have spoken out about it. I know I would have. Cam's father was actually quite restrained in his comments under the circumstances, IMO.
