Brunell tied for 4th in accuracy rating.

T4. Mark Brunell. Brunell's high accuracy percentage is even more impressive because he was very accurate at all depth levels. Brunell had the eighth-best deep pass accuracy percentage and also ranked in the top five in both the short- and medium-depth levels.

Iis an espn INSIDER article so im not sure if everyone will be able to see it but i found it interesting nontheless.

Not bad for an old man i suppose. I think, and im sure most of you agree, that these numbers will only improve with the addition of his new receivers.

I dont even have to ask why he didnt make it to the pro bowl b/c it is all a popularity contest. If you are off their radar or friends list, you have to put in one solid year then redo it the next year to be considered. F- all that, but why make a fuss its just Mark though it be nice to send him to Hawaii on his way out of the league.

Re: Brunell tied for 4th in accuracy rating.

the top 5 are: 1. Marc Bulger
2. Carson Palmer
3. Griese
4. Hasselbeck/ Brunell
6. Kelly Holcomb
The ratings were based on the balls thrown within receivers catching frames. Intentional overthrows or balls batted down are not included, as well as passes attempted while the QB is hit. Article by KC Joyner

Not too many QBs that play the Skins will make this list if you include balls batted down. Our defense does that several times in every game!

Kelly Holcomb is on the list, so I'll take it with a grain of salt.

Re: Brunell tied for 4th in accuracy rating.

It's just a ranking of passing accuracy. Of course Manning and Brady are the cream of the crop, but that doesn't mean they are also the most accurate QBs.

After watching the highlights of all the games last year with the exception of the first Giant game and the Denver game, it would be difficult to argue Brunell's accuracy. He made some exceptional throws from a variety. The only time he didn't play well was when he was injured. I was truly impressed with some of the passes he delivered last season.

Re: Brunell tied for 4th in accuracy rating.

I can't tell how Joyner is weighting the short, medium, and long ranges when he calculates his overall average.

I would think you'd want to give six times more weight to a 60 yard pass than you would a 10 yard pass. According to Joyner, Hasselbeck was 91% accurate in the "short range" and pretty average at the other distances. I'd think if you are weighting it properly, Hasselbeck's overall number would trend toward the average.

After all, isn't the point of throwing a pass to move the ball downfield? An accurate pass that moves 30 yards should count three times as much as an accurate pass that moves the ball 10 yards.

But if Hasselbeck plays in an offense that stresses short passes, which he does, why should he be penalized for not being an accurate deep passer if that's not what his offense calls for?

There is quite a bit of subjectivety that goes into his calculations, even he admits that.
