I think the Giants wanted Rhule, but Carolina's stealthy operation to fly into Waco and offer a higher than high contract offer - more than the Giants were willing to pay for an unproven (on the NFL level) college coach, sealed the deal. Judge may end up being the better hire anyway... Seems to be well respected from what I've heard.

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes

RR has said nothing that shouldn't have been said regarding him. There won't be anyone we bring in more talented but there could be someone that works harder and the coach trusts more.

I have faith in Haskins that he will mature as a player and leader this off season.

Marty Hurney may be the favorite to land the GM Job after the draft per The Athletic... Hurney is currently the Panthers GM.

Washington Panthers lol

The Redskins are hiring Ken Zampese as QBs coach, John Matsko as OL coach, Jim Hostler as WRs coach, and Pete Hoener as TEs coach. Three of the four were on Ron Rivers’ staff in Carolina.

Ken Zapese was the quarterback coach under Jay Gruden in Cincinnati. That seems odd to me.

There was a report I heard on sports radio today saying that Rhule gave NY the opportunity to match Carolina's offer. Clearly a no go there. Rhule did turn Baylor around quickly and that program was about as low as could be. He will be intriguing at the pro level for sure. Many are quick to dismiss what he can do in the NFL, but he deserves a fair chance.

What's happening in NY is what would have happened here, had Bruce Allen stayed with the team in any capacity. Like it was the case here before, no major coaching candidates were thrilled to work with Gettleman.

In Rhule's case, I believe it came down to how much power he would have compared to Gettleman. Carolina was willing to give him more power than Gettleman was willing to do so.

And now he will get it. I suppose, broadly speaking, coaching is coaching. However, the Big 12 (10) is a different animal than the NFL. Some college HCs transition just fine, and some do not. Only time will tell.

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes

So nice to see the staff being put together by the coach, with no weirdness. I have no issue with Turner, Carolina's offense has been as progressive as anyone in the league, similar to Baltimore with the focus on McCaffrey vice Jackson. Finding ways to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. And they did it still being physical and running the ball, huge plus for me. Anyone else interested to see what happens with Love healthy next year? Guice, Mclauren, Harmon....lot to work with.

Re: Coaching and Front Office Changes

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is Scott Turner was a QB coach (Vikings 2014-2016 and Panthers 2018-2019), so I don't think there's anything to make us fear there's gonna be a huge setback in Haskins development...
