Agreed, would add the 1st string OL in there... And have to check if I had my burgundy and gold glasses on when looking at Payne and Allen or not...

I'm with you in the o-line...

Just hard for me to say Payne/Allen were even decent when we got gashed so badly in the run game, especially right through the middle of line and not on sweeps or tosses to the outside, all first half... Definitely weren't stuffing runs at the line or behind it

But remember too... Our run game looked good to start last year too when our line was healthy... It does look like a positive going in if they can stay healthy!

Checked out the AP highlights of the game and he looked pretty good. Looks like the old man might have enough left to get us through this season. Please stay healthy.

It's impossible to go out and not see scores. Parents are in town so we went out to dinner, glanced at TV and sure as shit, saw the score. Probably a good thing. The only pre season game that typically holds any significance for the starters and rotational players and we get whipped at home. That aboy Gruden! Got em ready to play.

I saw that we actually converted a 4th and short with AP though. Super Bowl champions!!

To me this is key, re-watched the 1st half (condensed version, only the plays, snap to whistle) , I think Payne and Allen pushed the pocket well, drove their guys back in the run game, split double teams... but our LBs were out of position, and both LBs and DBs missed tackles...

Apart from a batted ball by Mason Foster, him and Vigil (who I both usually like quite a lot) really had an awful game!

Another thing I didn't notice among positives ones: #82 TE JP Holtz continues to play well at FB! With Elijah Wellman on IR, that is an appreciated surprise.

This is when I really miss the Cooley breakdown.

I'm curious to see his take. I really wonder if Denver was vanilla on O and D, or game planned like the Ravens did against us a few years ago in pre-season.

Yea, that dude just makes blocks. I don't think the numbers work out for a roster spot but darn, he is the best blocker at FB in a few years.

I like the implications of having a FB on the roster. Maybe the vaunted Gruden/Callahan run scheme is going to be overhauled (I doubt it).

I still don't understand Gruden's lack of run game, he is plenty smart enough to figure it out, and it just seems more stubborn than anything.

I know he wants the run plays to "look" a certain way for play action but geez, it is insanity to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

I wonder if J.P. Holtz might surprise and make the team as a FB. I know it sounds wacky that he might make it but I think we need a FB for short yardage plays. Perhaps Jay Gruden does, too.

You HAD to remember us how miserable and empty our lives now are, didn't you?!

That was a pretty terrible performance aside from AP and a few others. I get the feeling we're in for another slow start.

I think sometimes a lot of coaches just make it harder than in needs to be. If you can't run the ball it would probably make sense to have a pure fullback on the roster. He could not only be a fullback but play on all the teams stuff. Pretty simple stuff.

We signed Elijah Wellman who played well.

Before he got sent to IR. FORFL (=Fuck Our Redskins Fans' Lives).

After reviewing the game, Defense was so bad all around, DJ missed tackles and missed coverage assignments. Payne is the real deal, Brown was out so that made an impact. Offense was vanilla , looked like a PS Week 1 game.

This worries me a bit, last season he brought a new dynamic to this D. It's pre season, but we have a young and exciting DB squad, so I don't like the defacto leader of our secondary playing sloppy...
