Re: Pro-gun article

My version of gun control:

New Kimber Pro Carry II .45 ACP, 25' 50 rounds.

The low rounds are on double taps.

If LA is Los Angeles California where are you going to shoot? I moved from So Cal a few years ago, it seemed government owned land where target shooting was permitted shrunk on a yearly basis. Wasn't a fan of indoor ranges and a lot of the outdoor ones were private. Used to go to AZ just across the river from Blythe on I-10. All kinds of shooting areas there, no one was shooting on the California side I believe it was illegal.

I currently shoot at LA Gun Club, on 6th in the Art District.

I'm looking for snaps, possibly a tactical police range.

I used to work on 8th Street near Central in the early 80's. I am guessing that is still a pretty run down area? I actually went to the website, looks like indoor ranges are a little different than the last one I went to in the early 90's. The one I went to made you buy their handgun ammo and it was all low powder rounds.

They let me shoot their ammunition or what I bring. Next time I go I'll take 200 rounds of .45 ACP for a relaxing morning.

As we all know Cali is not a gun friendly state. I wonder if something has changed since I last went to A Cali indoor range over 20 years ago or the place I went to had restrictions on it. Like I said you had to buy their ammo and it was low powder loads. I would say their 45's had the kick of your average .22.
Maybe it is old school macho BS but the more noise and more kick a gun has the more I like it. Of course I still have a .22 pistol and rifle because you can't beat how cheap the ammo is.

And so he should be:

Last, he took out a Glock 27 .40-caliber handgun that has a laser sight. Olm said there was no magazine in it, but he did not work the action to check or clear it.

Never, ever, ever handle a firearm that hasn't been cleared.

I was taught at age seven never to point a gun at anything I don't intend to shoot.

Re: Pro-gun article

Here's an interesting video, from 2012:

Spartanburg Waffle House shooting video released, sparks new debate

Nineteen-year-old Dante Williams' family said there is no doubt he entered the Waffle House in Chesnee back in January of 2012 intent on robbing it, but they say he didn't have to die.

FOX Carolina obtained surveillance video from inside the Waffle House that investigators said shows Williams and his accomplice Jawan Craig come into the restaurant. Deputies said Williams is the one seen pointing a gun and demanding money.

Sitting at the bar area of the restaurant was Justin Harrison, a concealed weapon permit holder, who was armed the night of the robbery.

"They're yelling 'everybody get down, get down' and I'm not getting on the floor. I am not going to be a victim," Harrison said.

Harrison said while the men terrorized other customers and staff he was deciding when to act.

"This was the only time," Harrison said. "If I am going to fight it was that one time. He was approaching me and I saw that as him engaging me."

The video shows Williams, gun by his side, walk back toward Harrison, who stands up and fires several shots killing Williams almost instantly.

The video then shows Harrison trying to hold Craig at gunpoint. But Craig tries grabbing Harrison's gun and after a struggle Craig escapes.

Deputies later caught up with Craig, and he has since been convicted in the robbery. Thanks in part to the surveillance video.

Family members question why the gunman was shot dead. I'm impressed by the CWP holders restraint in not shooting the accomplice. Anyone else want to weight in? What would you have done.

I'd have shot both.

Five Basic Handgun Safety Rules

  1. Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat ALL firearms as if they were loaded.
  3. Keep your trigger finger outside the trigger guard and off of the trigger until you are ready to fire.
  4. Be certain of your target, your line of fire, and what lies beyond your target.
  5. Always wear appropriate eye and ear protection when shooting.
