2013 NFL Draft Prospects

Its November, and with about 4 more weeks of regular season college football, and teams that won't make a bowl but have some good prospects, I thought that instead of waiting for the bowl season, I would post my prospects now, so that you all would get a chance to see them on TV.

Just to let you all know, I didn't include such big names for obvious reasons (Manti Te'o, Matt Barkley, Geno Smith, etc), because we don't have a 1st and they are first round prospects and we are set at QB and starting RB so I didn't bother putting in those. I will update this thread every few days from now till draft time. Enjoy Skin fans, and let the dreaming begin.

Positions of Need
S, CB, RT, TE, WR, ILB, P, K
Positions of Depth
RB, OG, C, DE, NT, OLB, DB

CB:
1) Dee Milliner Alabama (Junior)—probably won’t fall to us in the 2nd, unless he fails at combine.
2) Johnthan Banks Mississippi St.—See above
3) David Amerson NC State—Was projected top 10 pick; has been so-so; has size; is coachable.
4) Jordan Poyer Oregon St—plays in the Pac12 against good QBs; has fared well.
5) Tharold Simon LSU—Good size, good competition, target less than Honey badger and Claiborne
6) Leon McFadden San Diego St—converted WR started since Freshman yr, has been all MWC 3yrs.
7) Desmond Trufant Washington—Brother Isaiah plays for Seattle; see Poyers description.
8) Xavier Rhodes FSU—Great returner; great height; can play all over secondary
9) Justin Gilbert OKST—see above; can get wimpy at times in run defense
10) Johnny Patrick Michigan State—reminds me exactly of Trumaine Johnson from last yr.
11) Nickell Robey USC—Small (5’8) but he can play
12) Kyle Fuller VT—solid CB, highly regarded by scouts; very on/off type of player
13) Melvin White Louisana-Lafayette—played opposite of Dwight Bentley past couple of years; was targeted less
14) BW Webb William & Mary—All CAA for the past couple of years
15) Tyrann Mathieu Ex-LSU—Drug problems; shaky in man coverage; GREAT returner; Another Vontaze Burfict
16) Micah Hyde Iowa—Solid Big 10 CB, isn’t fast but can play some solid defense; doesn’t go against great WRs

SS:
1) Matt Elam Florida (Jr)—Is always around the ball. Think Ed Reed, but with Carlos Rodgers hands.
2) Robert Lester Alabama—A ‘bama defender, 3 year starter; can play FS and SS.
3) Shawn Williams Georgia—looks like a LB; calls out teammates; Adrian Wilson or Charlie Peprah?
4) Phillip Thomas Fresno State—Hard hitter; faster & more energetic than last yrs phillip thomas
5) Shamarko Thomas Syracuse—VA boy, solid all-around safety; see above.
6) Rontez Miles California (PA)—20.5 TFL 5 Ints last year; grades sent him to IAA
7) Ray Ray Armstrong Ex-Miami—They were calling him the next Sean Taylor until taking benefits at the U, he wasn’t as good in coverage as Sean, but does have the size.

FS:
1) Eric Reid LSU—Won’t fall to us, but you never know!
2) Bacarri Rambo Georgia—SEC FS, very good defender, can be a SS as well
3) TJ McDonald USC—Scouts were real ^ on him last yr, now hes just “good”
4) Tony Jefferson Oklahoma—looks like more of a hitter than a ball hawk
5) Kenny Vaccaro Texas—Very ^ to scouts; got beaten badly by WVU and OKST
6) Malcolm Bronson McNeese St—Outshined Janzen Jackson lst yr; runs 4.39. Ball hawk. Will rise.
7) DJ Swearinger South Carolina—SEC safety, solid, STer more than likely
8) Josh Evans Florida—see above
9) John Boyett Oregon –Very good FS for great program in Good QB pac 12; Torn ACL for the year.

1) Jake Matthews Texas A&M—Son of Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews; doubtful he falls to us

15) Kyle Long Oregon—Howie’s son. Athletic, big, did the baseball route and came back to football.

TE:
1) Tyler Eifert Notre Dame—probably doesn’t fall to us, but is the best TE this year
2) Jordan Reed Florida—Think Fred Davis and Aaron Hernandez in one
3) Zach Ertz Stanford—Think Fleener and Heath Miller
4) Philip Lutzenkirchen Auburn—Mr. Do-It-All at Auburn; consistent with good and bad QBs.
5) Joseph Fauria UCLA—Uncle is Christian Fauria. Should be a beast TE.

ILB:
1) CJ Mosley Alabama (Jr)—Can do everything, rush the passer, spy QB, layout RB
2) Nico Johnson Alabama—Basically Mosley, just a tad slower
3) Shayne Skov Stanford—If he weren’t injured often, he’d be higher
4) Kevin Minter LSU—LSU with him on defense is great; without him is good. Stops RBs.
5) Michael Mauti Penn St—Team Leader and just good all-around LB. Similar to Dan Connor.
6) Kevin Reddick UNC—Fast, tough, highly graded by scouts.
7) Jon Bostic Florida—A faster version of Luke Kuechly but not as good at shedding blocks
8) Kiko Alonso Oregon—Rose Bowl Defensive MVP. Dumb, but can play when his heads on right.

Slot WR:

2) Quinton Patton Louisiana Tech—Jonthan Banks (SEC) said he is the best WR he went against
3) Ryan Swope Texas A&M—Great slot guy; very similar to Welker coming out of college
4) Stedman Bailey WVU—More physical Tavon Austin, but not as quick.
5) TJ Moe Missouri—Basically Ryan Swope, just not as sure handed and physical.
6) Conner Vernon Duke—unheard of because he plays at Duke. Brandon Stokley-esque
7) Kenny Stills OU—will drop some key passes, but is still tough and solid.
8) Zack Rogers Tennessee—Basically Connor Vernon, but at Tennessee. Is behind great WRs

WR:
1) Terrance Williams Baylor—An RG3 target. May be the best WR in the draft, says Kiper
2) Justin Hunter Tennessee—lengthy WR, fast, VA boy. Similar to Johnathan Baldwin.
3) Da’Rick Rodgers Tennessee Tech—quick, fast, great hands, is consistent; kicked off UT
4) Marquess Wilson WSU—The best player on WSU & maybe best WR in Pac12 if he had a QB
5) Cordarrelle Patterson Tennessee—Took Rodgers spot and has been great ever since.
6) Josh Boyce TCU—Physical, strong, a poor man’s Hakeem Nicks.

P:
1) Quinn Sharp OKST—the consensus best punter in the country
2) Ryan Allen Louisiana Tech—a good punter
3) Jonathan Plisco ODU—I-AA punter considered the best in I-AA and some say best in country

K:
1) Dustin Hopkins FSU—hopefully better than the last great FSU kicker, Gano
2) Caleb Sturgis Florida—consistent

7) Andre Ellington Clemson—So I hear he’s really good; I think he’s pretty good
8) Silas Redd USC—Smart…for leaving Penn St, fast and small
9) Kniles Davis Arkansas—Considered to be the best back until injuries and HC change hurt him
10) Giovani Bernard UNC (R-Soph)—reminds me of BenJarvis Green-Ellis, but slightly quicker
11) Mike Gillislee Florida—solid back who’s starting to shine for the gators
12) Mike Dyer Ex-Auburn (Junior)—the back that ‘won’ the game for them in the Oregon game
13) DJ Harper Boise St—Fast, small, played for good team. Needs better ball security.
14) Washaun Ealey Ex-Georgia—Think Bryce Brown story for this guy.

5) Bennie Logan LSU—Is a key member of LSUs highly touted DL
6) Damion Square Alabama—You don’t hear his name much, because he’s occupy blockers

8) Kapron Lewis-Moore Notre Dame—big reason NDs defense has been stout against the run
9) Ed Stinson Alabama—backup, but still good
10) Margus Hunt SMU—has the combine measurable that make GMs salivate (4.6 40, 35 reps of 225, 36 vertical), but gets shut out easily. Still learning football.

NT:
1) John Jenkins Georgia—Ok he’s 6-5 365, probably won’t make it to the 2nd round.
2) Jesse Williams Alabama—the “strongest player in CFB” also best DL on ‘bama. Benches 600.
3) Sylvester Williams UNC—not on the level ofJenkins, Williams, but is going to be solid.

10) David Bass Missouri Western—highly regarded small school guy. 20.5 TFL and 14.5 Sacks last year as a Jr.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

Nice work CB. Nothing wrong with looking ahead, especially with the College Football season still going on.

All this bitching about Haslett and Shanny has been nothing but a downer.

As I said in the top of the thread; With just 4 more regular season games and some teams that won't make a bowl game (UVA for example) but have great prospects (i.e. OT Oday Abusyi) I'm giving you this thread well in advance so you have time to watch them in their games (since Senior bowl and the shrine game only shows you so much of a player)

Missouri Florida game right now features 9 prospects mentioned above, all those guys are right in our range (no definite 1st rounders right now)

Richardson would upgrade our dline 12 tackles against Bama. Questions about his motor which is never a good thing for a d tackle. Elam would be a beast in our secondary. Minter last night played very well but the Bama line backers got owned by the lsu OLine. Great defensive draft and o line draft. Watching us yesterday it is evident we need some offensive playmakers. Possibly Austin as a second round pick.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

Nice job cult. I agree it gives games that were random more meaning if you know what players are coming out and top 3 round talent.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

The safety position at free and strong is soooo effing deep this year. You could seriously get a solid starter in round 2 and 3. We better take advantage

Deunta Williams of North Carolina is a ball hawking safety. He's projected to be a 2nd round pick. The Redskins could certainly use him.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

An impact safety would definitely go a long way in fixing our secondary woes.
