Probably the 2022 draft when Alex is in the last year of his current contract. However, if Alex stays healthy and plays well, he could be our version of Brees / Brady, so possibly 2024 if Alex makes it here until 39/40 years old. I think Alex is our true blue franchise QB at this point, i think he's going to be here a while.

They need to draft a QB early in the next two drafts. Colt can be an adequate #2 for 2 more years.

Colt is only 31, younger than Smith is now. Why would he suddenly not be adequate at 33 years old? I mean not counting an injury or him just up and deciding to retire? I think you'd have to worry more about Colt wanting to try his hand at becoming an NFL starter again after his current deal expires with us.

You answered your own question, Colt is signed for 2 more years and probably wants another chance to start. And if Mike Glennon can get $$$$$ Colt probably can too.
