I have all the faith in the world we can stop Elliott with our improved front seven. We just need to score some points. Prescott truly is not a good QB and if we make them one dimensional I think we can tee off on him.
Alex Smith has been borderline garbage his last 2 games outside 1 quarter. Jay and Alex should be growing together, with the passing game taking steps...why isn't this happening? New Orleans was among the leagues worst pass defenses and Carolina lacks significant playmakers in the secondary.

Dallas is here and the Achilles heel of the defense is the versus the passing game...can Jay and Alex flip the switch this week?

This time we face one of the god fathers of the Tampa 2. So expect it to be tuned up and ready to go.

It may be a long day for our 0line. We're going to have to get some turnovers and keep noodle arm out of 3rd and 5 or longer. And what has happened to Reed?

Reed had a solid game last week...no big plays, but solid.

CT and Reed on the field at the same time is probably our most dangerous sets...why? They make the defense chose between the 2 in coverage...and 99% of time its not a CB. We saw one game where the defense (Green Bay I believe) chose to put CB on Reed...that opened up receivers and Alex recognized it.

Flooding the Dallas zones with Reed and CT would be a good strategy...Trips...pressuring Safeties with 3 deep routes....Jay needs to coach this week.

I agree but it's our only strategy.
The game plan against us is to play zone and force us to have 10-15 play drives.

This team is #2 in the league for time of possession and AVG number of plays per drive but they are dead last in total number of drives.

We need to find a way to hit some home runs and hold teams to 3 and outs.

Tape has said big play opportunities have been available but Alex not seeing or throwing. I thought Alex was the best deep ball passer last year? Wtf is going on?

I think it might be that he took just about 17 snaps in the preseason with the first team offense? While learning a new offense. To me this is another coaching incompetency by Jay.

Re: Dallas week Version 1

hmmmm… maybe a lot more pass attempts in pre season would have helped.

Re: Dallas week Version 1

The preseason snaps talk drives me a little nutty. Would Smith be noticeably better if he had twice the work? Three times? What’s the magic number? I still maintain that he got more quality work in practice vs a preseason opponent playing basic schemes with backups.

The Rams pretty much sat their guys all August and it had zero impact. No they didn’t have a new QB but they had plenty of new faces around Goff.

It may not have made any difference, it may have. The only thing hindsight tells us is that the offense was not properly prepared for the regular season. And under Gruden, I think that has been the case every year.

I agree.

I think fans want something to point at and say, "That's the reason they're not playing well right there!" when the truth is there are a lot more factors that go into it.

I'm not really sure why the offense isn't clicking so well right now but I accept that. Hopefully it gets better but playing more in the pre-season would not have helped as much as people like to believe.

What would have happened if A. Smith go thurt in the pre-season? We'd be hearing the exact opposite calls such as, "Why are the starters in so long anyways??"

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Its' the life of an NFL head coach.

Re: Dallas week Version 1

Remember when Jay said "Alex Smith came here to win now?"

The excuses for Alex Smith not preforming are aggravating to me. 1/3 of the season is gone folks...Jay and Alex should be clicking and we should see growth each week. Instead the passing game seems to be stalled.

Enough with the excuses for Alex Smith and Jay Gruden.

I disagree and I think it is unfair. Reality is it takes time to find the rhythm of a passing game. To think different, it silly.

I am just as frustrated as anyone but I am also excited. We are 3 - 2 with a struggling passing game that should get better as the weeks pass.

I may change my mind if we go out there and pee down our leg vs Dallas.

You can disagree which is fine, but "unfair" is straight up bullshit. We have more than adequate weapons...from what Im told the roster has double digits wins talent...we been ok with injuries...schedule has been fine...we are in a weak ass division...we have continuity with coaching staff...and most relevant, Alex Smith is a proven Vet.

Smith hasn't played to the trade or the contract...Adrian Peterson has been the difference maker NOT Smith. I see 2 back to back bad performances and Jay Gruden flat out said yesterday, Alex is holding the ball too long.

I need to see Alex Smith come out and perform at a high level this week. We paid him to win big games like New Orleans (oh buzzsaw, trap game...) on a big stage...but most importantly we paid Smith to win divisional games like Dallas at home.

Coaches and the Front office chose Alex over Cousins...I need to see why. I need to see it now.
