What Eric Bieniemy's move means for the Chiefs, Commanders and his career.

Good article.

I don't understand how people think this move puts EB in line to be the new HC for Washington. Unless you are assuming that after a successful 2023 season RR will step aside.

There are two potential outcomes that I see:

1. The 2023 season is a dud. The offense sputters, we waste another season with these weapons and limp to an average record = everybody is fired.

2. The 2023 season is a success. The offense is top 10-15, the defense is top 10, we compete for the division title, make it to the playoffs and win at least one game = RR stays, finds a new OC, and EB is a head coach somewhere else in 2024.

The only way it would possibly be the case here is if the defense, special teams, and things like clock management is bad, but the offense finishes in the top 15 or so. So we're scoring points but other things go south and we still keep losing too much.

But it's very unlikely in general, not just here, that if a HC gets fired, you simply just give it to someone else on the team. It would very likely be a new hire from outside of the organization.

The only reason I say that, or think its a possibility is with a successful offense, and a sale of the team with new owners getting rid of Ron.

3. Offense is successful but Defense isn't, average record, new owner likes and trusts EB and is happy to make an easy move to keep being the new nice guy in town, elevates him to HC.

Not saying 3 is more likely than 1 and 2, but this possibility exists.

Now, do I think that's EB's reasoning and why he took the job? Absolutely not. I just think he failed so many HC job interviews before and has realized he needs to get out of Andy Reid's shadow to get some real respect and eventually land a HC job. Rivera won't shadow him at all, if the offense works well all the credit will be EB's.

Make no mistake about it, the NFC East and Washington both improved a whole lot with this deal.

Really hope this works out. But with the way things typically go for this franchise, I can't help but think it's not going to work out the way we're hoping and we find out the Chiefs success was all due to Reid and Mahomes and EB was just along for the ride. Really hope to be proven wrong here.
Third times a charm for Washington when dealing with Andy Reid.

Andy Reid always gets over on Washington. Whenever he needs to dump someone he calls Dan.

Lolol. There's a 3% chance this works out.

But it's all irrelevant until the ownership situation is settled.

My guess is we're all on board with "square one" if it involves getting rid of Snyder.

Drop me off at Square -100 if Snyder is gone.

This.

I'm not expecting a lot out of next season. But I'm happy we got a competent OC to hopefully make it an entertaining and not-hopeless season nonetheless.

I really don't see how hiring a new offensive coordinator changes Dan's mind on selling. Why?

I'm beginning to think he never was going to sell the team.

I personally think he was willing to sell initially because he believed that he was going to have no problem getting the 7 billion that he wanted.

Now that it is known that he isn't getting anywhere close to that, he can just come back and say "I wanted to sell but I didn't get my asking price".

I think that Dan has been of the mindset for the past several weeks that he isn't selling and has just been doing due diligence for IF someone shows up out of the blue and offers 7 billion.
