Seattle will be tough but they are not as good as they were the first half of the season.. Their OL is bad, if we can get pressure on Russ we can win

Seattle, Carolina, Philly are all winnable games with this defense. Not to take anything away from this nice little 4-game win streak, but honestly, we caught Dallas, Cincy, Pittsburgh, and SF at the right times. Seattle represents the best, most consistent, and most healthy opponent in the last several weeks. This offense will have to move the ball and score or this euphoria is going to be short lived.

First half of the year their defense was a sieve. They've been playing much better the last 5 or so weeks so it will be another tough game.

Re: Around the NFL week 14

NFL owners adopted a resolution on Tuesday that will compensate teams with draft picks for losing minority staff members to head coaching jobs and other premium positions elsewhere.

It’s another attempt by the league to bolster minority hiring for high-level jobs against the backdrop of a lagging record of diversity by its teams.

The gist of the resolution:

• A team that loses a minority assistant coach who becomes a head coach or loses a personnel executive who becomes a general manager will receive third-round compensatory picks in each of the next two drafts.

• A team that loses two minority staffers to head coach and general manager positions would receive three third-round picks.

Interesting. This was done this offseason .. not this past Tuesday.

If 9ers D coord Saleh gets a HC job .. 9ers get 2 3rd round picks.

Chiefs OC Bieniemy becoming a HC = 2 3rd rounders for KC.

Re: Around the NFL week 14

So, if I'm Denver, and I'm thinking about hiring Bieniemy to be my head coach next year, I would have to see my chief rival receive 2 additional third round picks in order to do it? I can see how this bizarre rule could possibly lead to more minority assistant coaches and assistant gm's being hired, but it seems to me that it could actually stand in the way of a qualified minority head coach or general manager being hired.

This is true. I believe Troy Vincent was the one who came up with this idea, but obviously he didn't think it all the way through as it will actually hurt minority coaches from being hired by a rival team. There's no way the Broncos/etc. would consider hiring Bieniemy if it meant KC gets 2 third rounders.

Re: Around the NFL week 14

That seems like a disincentive to hire across the board. Why would I as an owner or GM want to hire someone I know is going to give an advantage to another team in division or conference.

Re: Around the NFL week 14

This makes zero sense. If you are going to compensate at all, why wouldn't you compensate the team that hires the minority coach/GM, rather than the team he came from. I don't get the logic behind that resolution.

Re: Around the NFL week 14

It's 2020, if teams are too fucking stupid to hire a minority even though they're the most qualified, then that team will be worse off for it. That should be enough motivation. We don't want to be fucking stupid, hire the best candidate. And if they don't want to, oh well for them, if they want to makes their franchise worse.

This is a slap in the face to minorities, NFL trying to bribe teams to hire them.
