Re: A bad win is better than a good loss WFT vs Seattle post-game thread

We HAVE to consider our ST coach position, if not now, in the off-season. We could be on our 4th kicker now. We let an obvious overload on our left break through the middle way too easy (always coached you block inside out on FG team). Our hands team should have cleaned that up on the first attempt, let alone nearly lose it on the 2nd. This is all down to coaching.

And sort out the secondary communication. On an early game play or 2, maybe a blown coverage is tolerable, but when you KNOW they're passing and need a TD and a 2 pointer, you have to play smarter to win.

Scott Turner called a good game overall, but his short yardage calls were too much of an open book. He has to be more creative than that, and it doesn't take risky plays to do that. What about Samuel, McK and AG in the backfield together? 3 TE set? Wildcat? They ran Samuel twice for positive yardage, but didn't consider him on 3rd and 1 or use him as a diversion.

Hats off to TH, though that pick was too risky a throw, effectively double coverage. AG (I love how he finished that one run bouncing the DB off him (Reed?), front 7 stuffing the run. OL banged up but still playing power football. Playing December football.

Yup. McCain is straight garbage. He has to go. We need a safety bad.

Sheehan just said on his show that Tress Way was 11 for 11 in extra points in college. So why not attempt the chip shot at the end, which was basically an extra point. I wonder if it had more to do with Way being a lefty and the holder not being comfortable holding the ball from that side due to lack of practice?? Idk.

Re: Hawks Postgame

I went to bed still ticked off about that call to reverse the TD. All year the refs have been sticking by the original call unless there was clear and obvious evidence to overturn it. Still not sure what they saw there. Still, a great win and in the end who cares about style points. It just didn't need to be that hard.

Going to a lefty kicker with little practice seemed like a recipe for disaster. Especially with the blocked kick return fresh in everyone's mind.

Crazy game. Solid win IMO. Sad to see the D give up the late TD, but they were dominating the game. I mean they allowed 2 drive during the whole ball game... even late when the offense couldn't move the ball anymore.

While I love tough defense+run it down their throat football, I was surprised we didn't have more opportunities in the passing game, and by how much pressure Heinicke was under... I'm aware our Oline has injuries, but they played well the last 2 weeks, and I expected them to hold on better than that against the Seahawks Dline.

Im just surprised there aint an emergency plan for a backup kicker. I mean if it is Way he should be practicing chip shots every day. That was so weird. I can’t believe how many times I thought ok just need 3 here and than realized oh shit fg isnt an option. I mean Seattle is a really good Redzone defense (strange because they are not good for the other 80 yards at all) and when you take fg off the board it made it really hard to get 7. Our D kept rising up, and it was like wow getting down in fg range aint good enough. Bizarre. Slye man wtf were you doing running full sprint. I appreciate the effort, but wtf was he thinking? Lol

If the blocked kick return hadn't already happened, maybe Ron has a different approach.

Yeah in all fairness that final score should have been 23-9 and a blowout..

That fucking blocked XP almost cost us the game and season. If Slye hits that XP for the majority of the game we have had a two score lead and a healthy kicker.

that was seriously one of the craziest games i have seen in awhile.

This is not good:

@PeteHaileyNBCS
Ron Rivera tells @JunksRadio that Joey Slye will be out a "minimum of three weeks" and that, at halftime, he was already instructing his staff to prepare for kicker tryouts this week

The guy that pushed out the Seahawk after the TD was awesome.
