Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
I don't agree with this. It's the Dems who want to raise taxes on the wealthy and lower them for the middle class. Social programs such as the Affordable Care Act were most definitely to help average Americans who simply can not afford health care coverage.

As for the ACA the income limits for subsidies goes to $58,320, For a 2 person household that figure goes up to $78,880. That is most definitely middle class in America so again your claim that the ACA prevents lower and middle class workers from qualifying is simply not backed up by the facts. https://www.goodrx.com/insurance/aca/aca-income-limits Last edited by Darrell Green Fan; 09-05-2024 at 10:14 AM. |

As for the ACA rates are based on 400 times the federal poverty level. They only take into account insurance rates for adjustment not the cost of living for different areas. Middle class (family of three) varies according to an areas cost of living. You used the middle-class definition at the national level 49-148K, but in Maryland for example it is $66k-197K and in really high areas (San Fran) it begins at $250K. Millions of people, all middle class, who had insurance prior to ACA, had to drop insurance and do without because it massively drove up costs and they couldn't afford it any longer. There were winners and losers in ACA, and the biggest losers came from the middle class. Last edited by nonniey; 09-05-2024 at 10:22 AM. |

Of course there will be "experts" who claim the Inflation Reducton Act actually increased inflation. It was enacted late in 2022. Inflation went from 9.84 in '22 to 4.06% in '23. Today it sits at 2.9% Where I come from that's called scoreboard. It worked, obviously. |

And again none of the Inflationary Reduction Act had measures in it designed to reduce inflation (none), on the contrary it was full of policies that any basic economics teacher will tell you contributes to inflation. That act had nothing to do with inflation coming back down. |

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
My Daughter is a Vice Principle at a School and she can verify this. The work ethic of many of these Gen Z kids is horrible.
https://news.yahoo.com/news/finance/...111719818.html Bosses are firing Gen Z grads just months after hiring them—here’s what they say needs to change After complaining that Gen Z grads are difficult to work with for the best part of two years, bosses are no longer all talk, no action—now they’re rapidly firing young workers who aren’t up to scratch just months after hiring them. According to a new report, six in 10 employers say they have already sacked some of the Gen Z workers they hired fresh out of college earlier this year. Intelligent.com, a platform dedicated to helping young professionals navigate the future of work, surveyed nearly 1,000 U.S. leaders. It found that the class of 2024’s shortcomings will impact future grads. After experiencing a raft of problems with young new hires, one in six bosses say they’re hesitant to hire college grads again. Meanwhile, one in seven bosses have admitted that they may avoid hiring them altogether next year. Three-quarters of the companies surveyed said some or all of their recent graduate hires were unsatisfactory in some way.

Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
It is so absurd. It shouldn't even be legal. (probably isn't we just have corporations exploit loopholes that legislatures intentionally put in there so they get rich)

No one in a position of power does anything besides benefitting themselves 1st, then if a result of that is some regular people benefit, that's just an added bonus they can lie about like it was done on purpose. Until the tax code is simplified and the federal government has to have a balanced budget, the whole country is fucked, and eventually it will be too late to recover. And I put this on politicians the most. They are just dirty fucking under the table businessman/businesswoman.

Well, she is right and as much as lefties hate it that boat (him being considered a Great President) has sailed. Interesting thing I've discovered is a small part of the most cultish part of MAGA hates him as much as the extreme left.
