He saved a TD in coverage on a punt return today too, and his KO returns look solid. He's a jack of all trades right now, and playing very well. If he does materialize as our #1 by the start of next year, I won't want him returning kickoffs.

Nice to see Thomas play a solid game. I hope this is a preview of things to come!
He does some nice stuff after the catch too.

Im very encouraged by this, but am taking this with a grain of salt considering the saints top 3 corners were out, and thomas probably had the 5th or 6th cover DB on him most of the time

Like I said, all our 2nd rounders are now producing as they should, now let's rebuild the OL and next year we'll in the hunt and beyond. Just wait till Mitchell starts to produce, then that will be scary.

Lewis should take a quick peek at Wisehunt's playbook; he needs to move Thomas around more, just like Wisehunt does with Anquan Boldin.. Thomas would flourish much more..

On other hand, Thomas had his best game today! He definitely helped Redskins to stay competitive against Saints..

Man it was awesome to Thomas work his stuff out there. I can't figure him out tho: is he really fast or just getting better at creating separation?

He's fast but I think the difference is he can PLAY fast now. He doesn't have to think as much now that he seems to be "getting it". He was outstanding today and has shown the kind of aggression the last couple of weeks that is inspiring.

Re: Welcome to the NFL Devin Thomas

Yes, I was happy for him. Glad he finally had a good day. My question is I thought he (DT) was supposed to be as fast as Moss? He took the Kick Off and ran into his own man then kicked it to the other side and got tackled. I thought he should have been able to out run the Saints player. DT really didn't look like he was running very fast.

Maybe I'm thinking about Eloi and if so they need to get his arse developed also. It was just one of those times I wished we had Alridge or Dorsey who both would have been up the field for a TD.

Re: Welcome to the NFL Devin Thomas

I loved that we took advantage of his ability but let's remember he was out there beating guys who were on the streets 5 weeks ago.
Also, For a supposedly 4.4 guy he wasn't flying by guys on kickoff returns.

But like someone said early, We should use him in an Anquan Boldin way and let him make plays with his strength.

Good job by him today.

It's clear now that Thomas had the ability to do this, but until recently, he was lucky to get one ball thrown his way per game.
Yep.. and Zorn stated that Thomas' routes were often just to occupy a defender and open up other receivers.

Thomas showed promise (heh) in both Philly games and in the Denver game, but never got more than 3 or 4 touches a game. Double his touches, double his production. He needs to be seeing the ball 7 times EVERY game if the D isn't shutting him down completely.

Re: Welcome to the NFL Devin Thomas

Thomas played awesome today. I am not sure why they thought to only use him as a distraction route before, but hopefully they don't go back to that. if only there was a time in the season that i could pin point where the play calling went from ridiculous to some what descent .

Re: Welcome to the NFL Devin Thomas

kid was straight ballin. i was especially impressed with his kick coverage skills. he ALWAYS stayed in his lane. saving the possibility of a couple of long runs by the saints

Re: Welcome to the NFL Devin Thomas

Dt reminds me alot of ocho cinco when he first came into the league.. Not blazing speed but just enough. And both guys are very good route runners and of course smack talkers lol
