#39 David Amerson

What of young David Amerson? Last week Terrance Williams beat him on the same double move that he used to get beat with when he was a corner for N.C. State. At the next level we all expected improvement. Before the 2013 draft Amerson was viewed as a high risk, high reward type of corner. He's had a dreadful season and didn't nab an interception in 2014 after having two as a rookie....there's also been word that Amerson has been engaging in Fred Davis like behavior......while I do believe Amerson has potential, I also believe that the Redskins should trade him. He just concluded year 2 and Raheem Morris hasn't coached him out of getting beat with the same double move that he often got beat with in college.

Re: #39 David Amerson

Let's see what a real DC can do with him before we toss him to the curb (and I agree that this season is reason for doubt). But we need to look for more quality CBs no doubt. If Hall comes back, I could imagine moving him to FS and then we will really need to cultivate CBs.

Let's pray Morris is out the door when a new DC is hired. Not giving up on him yet.

And what are you going to get for him? A 7th if you are lucky, let the new DC coach him up.

Yeah, can't give up on Amerson yet. But it would be a good idea to bring in competition.

I love when people are like trade so and so. As though there are all these buyers for our awful guys.

Trade him for what, a ham sandwich? Based on last year's performance he's not worth a seventh round pick.

Sign someone or draft a CB to put someone ahead of him on the depth chart. Bury him on the depth chart and make him show some character and earn his way back.

You must don't have a critical eye on what's wrong with our team....any GM or DC can easily spot where all of the weaknesses are on our defense......a talent evaluator like A.J. Smith will easily look at a corner like Amerson and see him as trade bait. Or Smith will look at the position itself and see that it needs upgrading. If they decide to keep Amerson then he will more than likely be a nickel CB at best.

I like your way of old school thinking. The thing with Amerson is that he was a high draft pick. He still has value. There's GMs around the NFL that would part with a draft pick or a veteran player for Amerson.

In your post above, you yourself rated Amerson as a "nickel CB at best."

So that's what you should expect to get in a trade. Draft position has nothing to do with it. How much are "nickel CB at best" players trading for these days?

What????? You just said Amerson is only good enough to be a nickel cb on our team, one of the worst secondaries in the league, yet someone is going to trade for him? WTF

It's a very delicate...complex process....this "good enough, Not good enough" thing. Perhaps your just not capable of understanding the intricacies?

Just because a person thinks he sucks doesnt mean an NFL GM doesnt. His value isnt what anyone says or thinks, its what a single team is willing to pay.

A tall CB with some speed will make at least one team think that the problem isnt Amerson, but the Redskins who didnt develop him properly (which probably is the truth). Then they will think that they could develop him and make him into a good CB. With as many bad trades and free agent signings that there are in the NFL, you honestly think a 7th rounder is the best offer we could get?
