Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I would be happier if we traded down to the 20s in exchange for a 1st next year. Take Ridder in the second if he is still there.

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
They won’t have to trade up for a QB. All of these guys are about the same in different regards

Carolina at 6, Falcons at 8, Broncos at 9, and with one of their two 1sts (5 and 7) you can't rule out the Giants either. We can't sit at 11 and expect to be able to take the first QB off the board. That's a huge gamble that likely won't end well. |

FA starts a week from tomorrow. The draft isn't too far off now either. Excited to see what the QB room looks like around May 1st.

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Here's to them getting him.
I hope any team picking ahead of us lands Watson. Hell, I hope all 10 teams sign/trade for a QB by draft day. Better for us to pick a rookie.

Right now we'd need to move to at least #4 (Jets) to get ahead of Carolina at #6. And we're not trading with the Giants #5. With Carolina not needing a QB, we can potentially move up to #8 (Atlanta) to get ahead of Seattle at #9. Even then, will Houston want to pick up a QB at #6 with Carolina's pick? QBs are always overdrafted.

My preference is to sit still at 11 and see what QBs are available. But I'm also not opposed to moving up if Rivera is 100% locked in on his guy. I'm looking forward to this draft so much. I always do, but this year is especially interesting. If we play this offseason right, we are definitely competing for playoffs. And not at 7-9.

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Here is what I could find about teams trading up into top 10 to draft a QB over the last 20 years. I would consider three of these success stories.
2004-NYG move up one spot to draft Eli Manning (technically players traded not draft positions) 2009-Jets move up from 17th to #5 draft to Mark Sanchez 2012-Redskins move up #6 to #2 to draft RG3 2016-Rams trade up from #15 to #1 to draft Jared Goff 2016-Eagles trade up from #8 to #2 to draft Carson Wentz 2017-Bears trade up from #3 to #2 to draft Trubisky 2017-Chiefs trade up from #27 to #10 to draft Patrick Mahomes 2018-Jets trade up from #6 to #3 to draft Sam Darnold 2018-Bills trade up from #12 to #7 to get Josh Allen 2018-Cardinals trade up from #15 to #10 for Josh Rosen

Re: Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread
What will we do with our first and 2nd round picks ? I say we draft David Bell with our 1st round pick because he may not be there by the time we pick in the 2nd. Bell would be a great compliment to Scary Terry and a very good insurance policy if Curtis Samuel disappoints again.
