Goodbye Kwame.....
Goodbye Kwame
What does everyone think? I like the trade simply because I'm sick and tired of Kwame. If he blows up in LA, oh well. He wasn't going to do it DC, thats for sure. |

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
It would have been nice to get that first round pick as well from the Lakers next year. Kwame showed flashes of being a really dominating player but they were too few and far between. It seemed like for every step forward he took he took two steps back. And maybe a change of scenery will help him anyway.
Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins can help us immediately. It's funny when you think of how a couple of years ago everyone here was upset that we just missed out on Caron in the draft, but now we got him. He's a decent, solid player and gives us some depth But I'm really excited about Atkins. I think he's very underrated and he could have a Chauncey Billups-esque impact on our team.

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
if he thought he was under pressure in washington, in LA its going to be 10 times as much. the lakers are expected to be great every year and thats just higher expectations for kwame now. now we have a new starting SG in Butler, and a solid bench gut in Atkins with playoff experience and 3 point ability. pretty good trade for us

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
I know it's only summer league but I hear that their latest high school draft pick Andray Blatche is really turning heads in the summer league. Averaging 10 points and 7 boards

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
blatche is a great pick straight up.
glad kwame is gone... wish we good get a big man, but there's nothing out there... i'm really kinda surprised kwame got more than a case of beer, but the big man market really is that bad. |

I've been following the summer league and by looking at the box scores, it seems like Blatche is already making a name for himself. Funny that we didn't draft this kid until the 2nd round and Kwame was first overall. And this kid Blatche is already turning heads. TAFKAS, what happened to our boy Peter John Ramos? He hasn't done jack. You Puerto Ricans should stick to baseball, j/k. |

Kwame still has potential since he's only 23. But you're right I'm surprised they gave up that much for him. I guess they see something in him. I already gave up on him. |

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
I'm a Lakers fan and I could have semi lived with the deal when it was Butler for Brown but I'm kinda pissed that the Lakers have thrown in Atkins as well. I don't know if that's salary related or what cuz he played pretty well last year even though he's not really a strong pg cuz he's not as good of a passer as that position demands. But if it's between giving away Atkins or Devean George, the wiz can have Atkins.
But as much as people hate on Brown, if anyone can help him with his low post numbers, it'd be Phil Jackson utilizing the triangle. |

Re: Goodbye Kwame.....
I think it's funny when I hear people, such as some experts on ESPN.com as well as his Kwame's agent, say that this will be good for him because he doesn't have to be the go-to guy and also he'll have Kobe to help him out. Are you kidding me? When was he ever asked to be the main guy here? The Wizards never put any pressure on him to be the go-to guy. And Kobe isn't going to coddle him. Kobe is a Michael Jordan wannabe who will yell at and berate Kwame.
Maybe Kwame will blossom in LA, but this is a deal that had to be done. The only concern on our end is that we're getting two guys entering the last year of their contracts (though Butler is restricted). But when you think about it, we've added a solid, consistent young swingman, a veteran point guard who can hit the open jumper, and word is we're getting Donyell Marshall as well. All those guys for the same amount of money, if not less, than we would have had to pay Hughes had we given him what we wanted. I'm not going to flat out say that we're better now than we were at the end of the season...but maybe we are.

The FO gets an A for making sound decisions thus far... I think Ludacris can be had for the MLE too, so we can move Twan back to the 3.
