Re: Colts-Redskins Postgame Thread
No. We never play 4-3. We play nickel, that's 4-2-5. Not the same at all IMHO.
Not sure that's the issue though, we played well against the run so far. Pass rush is what we miss...

Lol. Wait n see after a victory over the lifeless Cards was fair. We waited. We saw. We saw a team get absolutely pushed around and man handled by a really bad defense in their own house. And this is year 4 for Gruden? So not exactly a rush to judgement. He has proven himself incapable of coaching in this league for quite a while imo. If we lost a close one - even to a lackluster team than ok - it is the NFL. But we got our asses kicked all over the field by the effin Colts. Don’t bode well man. |

Not when you come in on the heels of several other failed coaching staffs and a fan base clamoring for consistency and a quarterback finally coming of age (KC). We all knew he had some guaranteed time to turn it around. He hasn’t. |

Re: Colts-Redskins Postgame Thread
It's not a must win, but I strongly encourage winning. Starting off 0-2 at home is no bueno. Also, the team needs to give away tickets or do whatever it takes to fill the stadium up with Skins fans. Game hasn't even started yet and I'm already annoyed by how many Packers fans are there.

Re: Colts-Redskins Postgame Thread
Somewhat a function of the offenses we have faced so far. A significant test comes this Sunday -- a real offense comes to town. But the D overall hasn't been bad. Luck threw for 181 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. We ought to win (or at least be competitive) in a game like that. This week was all about offensive failings in my judgment. O-line was terrible, WRs were invisible, and play-calling/adjustments were awful.
But as Matty points out, it is early in the season. Losing at home sailing into the bye week would really be bad.

This is probably why we went tackle in the 3rd round. At this point of Trent's career he's always going to have something going on.

Re: Colts-Redskins Postgame Thread
D was far from perfect but played well enough for us to win. 9 points at home against Indy is awful on so many levels.

Too me, this past game just had an ominous feeling to it. I don't get that performance, I just don't. Not after a dominant week before...Gruden said he sensed low energy from the team...again, why is this? MUST WIN AGAINST Green Bay. This isn't about just a big game cause it Green Bay, this is about laying out the foundation for the rest of the season. I need to see the team execute well...I need to see the team play hard....I need to see Gruden call a good game. This last week was unacceptable as a fan. Completely unacceptable. |

Chico -- I don't disagree with anything you just said. It's early, but the effort and coaching makes for a sense of urgency now.

Re: Colts-Redskins Postgame Thread
Definitely not the best D in football but I do think they played well, including last Sunday.
Watching the game again, All 22, confirms my feelings: -Coverage by our ILBs improved tremendously from last year. Mason Foster had a REAL solid game, key tackles on 3rd down pass plays, TFLs, tipped ball... -Dunbar is turning into the real deal. -Johnathan Allen is a beast. -I can't quite get my finger on why we don't generate more pass rush... The second INT was caused by pressure (Allen, Kerrigan and Smith), good position by Foster, and DJ making the play though, so I'd be curious to see pressure stats from this game. -I also don't think Smith left that much on field. Made a nice deep throw to Richardson in the 3rd QTR. He overthrew Crowder on a go route. Overall I'd say the receivers weren't open that much...
