Re: Money over everything

SD in a perfect world corporations and consumers would follow through with a moral responsibility. I think you and I would disagree on how to best solve this. To me the United States government needs to up their game. You can't have a trade partner you call out but still agree to trade with and expect corporations to do the right thing. I commend some of the move Trump has done to bring corporate dollars and trade back to United States but we really need a lot more from the federal government to put pressure on corporations that due business with China. Call it a genocide tax then maybe American consumers and corporations will not want to be associated with that. From a natural resource perspective China needs us more than we need them the problem is they keep buying up our debt. They can always call bill due.

Re: Money over everything

Maryland ballots have Question 2 on it - expanding commercial sports betting to raise revenue for education.

For = raises money for schools, people are going to bet anyway via phones, Marylanders are driving an hour to Charleston W VA or Delaware to place bets while W va gets the tax money

Cons = I cant help but think in some instances a dad somewhere will impulsively bet his family's monthly mortgage and lose then go into a downward spiral if its a 5 min drive.

---------------------

Im torn. money for school is great .. but at what cost?

Re: Money over everything

MD already has casinos, I feel like it's only natural they allow sports betting too. The dad betting away his mortgage payment is probably a gambling addict too and just as likely to blow his mortgage payment at Horseshoe or the MGM National Harbor as is he is betting on games.

I'm voting no for the soul reason that Dan Snyder is looking at putting betting in the new team stadium. He doesn't deserve anymore money.

I begrudgingly voted yes. No need to send money to other states like Nevada, will create a handful of jobs BUT just like casinos and lottery will be a tax on the poor and I don't trust the state to put the money to schools. They told us the same thing for casinos and that didn't happen.

im begrudgingly voting yes as well. Adults are free to make their own choices.

I think I fit into the category of people who may start betting more ... and then who knows. My brother bets a couple thousand a week and I put a couple bets through him a year. I have a strong addiction gene and habits to being with.

Now on a typical Friday after work, I already stop by my dispensary and drop a hundred or so, stop by my expensive craft beer store and drop 60 or so, drop by jersey Mikes and drop 11 .. now I can drop by the sports gambling kiosk and drop a few hondo on teams some radio head said is a sure fire win.

All on my way home to start a fire, make some pizzas and watch Despicable Me 3 with the fam.

A fool and his money ... they just make it easier and easier

(I only go to the dispensary once a month ...)
