That's easy for you to say sitting on the outside. While I agree w/ you about Young, there are many others, including Joe Gibbs and Mark Brunell, who had serious issues with managing their money.

Two words answer your question: Bud Adams.

Re: Around the NFL Off - Season style.

I think Vince Young is just a very immature guy who never grew up. You see pics of him online in some club w/ his shirt off, he's getting into fights at strip clubs and what not. Could you ever imagine RG3 doing that kind of crap? He made 29 mil, taxes probbaly took about 12 mil, agent probably took almost a million, so that leave him w/ 16 mil or so? He probably had a few homes, a lot of cars, a 5k a week Chesscake Factory bill, buying all the seats on a plane, 300k parties.... that 16 mil can go real fast with that type of lifestyle.

Gotta hunch Brunell and Gibbs didnt lose their money throwing parties for themselves. I think i read where Gibbs lost some of his money in tennis courts and apartment complexes. But Im not sure on that.

It is if you've had everything taken care of for you since high school if you are a big up and coming football player. These guys have the common sense of a door knob when it comes to anything real world related.

It's very easy to say for me because I'm not a idiot. Gibbs and Brunell didn't have problems managing their money, they simply invested poorly. Brunell caught the brunt of the real estate collapse, and Gibbs wanted money for nothing. You can't give somebody cash, have no involvement, and expect good things to come out of it. Brunell was definitely dumb with his investments though. He got greedy and put way too many eggs in one basket.

Well putting money in questionable real estate is probably not a good way to manage money. I'm not comparing Young's situation to Gibbs or Brunell. Young spent lavishly on stupid crap, he deserves to be broke. But I'm sure if a lot of us were in his situation at 21 years old we'd all probably make some mistakes with that amount of money. That's all I'm saying. Now, would I have a 5k a week Cheesecake Factory bill? Or charter a plane for myself cause I wanted to be alone? No way in hell.

Re: Around the NFL Off - Season style.

Davis may get a multi-year deal, but it's probably going to to be loaded with incentives for performance...and being on the field. Talent-wise, he's worth the paycheck, but he hasn't exactly been reliable. We're not in the position to pay for potential, we need to get our money's worth. Make him earn his pay. I think a motivated (by money) Fred Davis WILL earn his pay and the team will be better for it.
