Yeah it's just beyond me that we all knew last year that Holcomb, Bostic, a rookie and zero depth was not good enough at LB, but our 2 ex NFL LBs coaches thought "meeh we're fine, just sign David Mayo for good measure and our front 7 is set!".
So it would be amazing to me that they do the same mistake 2 years in a row, let Bostic go and say "meeeh we'll just draft a guy and sign a couple of UDFA"...

Washington Commanders are expected to sign back WR Cam Sims, per source. That's in the works.

3 days after the tampering period started last year we signed Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyler Larsen, Kyle Allen, and Dustin Hopkins.

4 days after the tampering period started last year we signed William Jackson and Curtis Samuel.

After that - Adam Humphries, Darryl Roberts, De Andre Carter, Sammis Reyes, Ereck Flowers.

Then we had the Draft...

Then we brought in Charles Leno, Bobby McCain, Ricky Seals-Jones, some other depth pieces throughout the summer.

I'm not sure how you can think - definitively - that they are done in the secondary, or any position group for that matter.
For me Im comfortable with saying our starting secondary is set, unless we draft a secondary guy at 11 (Hamilton/Stingley/Gardner).

I dont think we have the cap or roster need to add an impact secondary FA.

Im talking adding a starter secondary player ... not depth. Most of the guys you listed we either depth or we had a roster need for a starter.

We dont have the cap to add an impact guy in the secondary, any cap needs to go filling out our roster depth .. we have about 40 guys under contract who will make the 53, we have a lot of depth guys to add.

They can always make cap room, but if you end up being correct - that the starting secondary is already inked, then at least they will have continuity, which was a big problem to start the season last year.

I want to see Cam Sims with a real QB, I think if he was on another team with his growth the last 2 years…he could be a 50+ 6-7 TD guy out of a outside #2WR. He can get up for balls

Agreed. If an impact FS is a late cut and we can add him, IM all for that.

Re: Commanders Free Agency Tamper Window

I would have thought the game he had against Pittsburgh would have garnered more opportunities in the offence and interest from other teams. I like him as a WR 4/5 and we need a big endzone target alongside LT. Does it mean they don't intend to draft a WR I wonder. They have lots of other holes to fill and only 3 picks in the top 5 rounds.

I just have this sinking feeling we will once again be entering training camp with a real need at linebacker
The Commanders brain trust needs to get to the heart of the matter about the needs of this team in FA. What I think we need most now is a leader for the defense. That's why Bobby Wagner should be our "must get" target in FA. He would elevate our defense and our entire team. Remember how much London Fletcher did for us and consider that Wagner is an even better player than Fletcher was.

Now, I imagine that Wagner doesn't particularly want to come here. So, we need to offer him significantly more money than any other team. Take your best shot, RR!

Edit: From Cowboy Country website 3/14/22: FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys are involved in what a source terms "exploratory'' talks with just-cut Seattle Seahawks franchise icon linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Wagner, who will be 32 in June, has a connection with Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who once held the same role in Seattle. And Quinn, we're told, would be central to Wagner's decision to come to the Cowboys for less money than he might get elsewhere.

Don't let this happen!

Everyone needs to understand every time you over pay someone it means we can't get two or three other players and it can hamper us for years. Even fucking Dan Synder has figured out over paying folks is useless.

I see this as an exception to the rule, especially when you consider the typically low quality of the "two or three players" we have signed in FA in the past. Also, I doubt that RR has two or three years left to build a winner before he is fired by Mrs. Snyder.
