I still haven't given up on the 1st over all pick. Cincinnati may be 0-10 but half their loses have been by 7 points or less, where all the Redskin losses have been by 2 scores or more except one. The Redskins aren't even competitive.

QB or BPA for our #1 Draft Pick - 2020

I think Edge Rusher Chase Young will make a bigger impact than OT Andrew Thomas. Although Ryan Kerrigan had a good game against the Jets and is a GREAT role model for the younger players, he is fading this year. Our DL, with the PROPER COACHING, could really be very good and much better than it is now.

Our defense is very vanilla, uncoordinated and doesn’t stunt at all. When Greg Manusky is replaced the defense can only go up. I think with just the addition of Young, the replacement of Norman with a excellent FA CB and proper coaching this defense could immediately improve a lot.

Our defense has some real talent, but without a good DC, better schemes and improved position coaches those good players are just wasted.

Chase Young is the best player available in the 2020 draft. He will be a force on this defense.

Why would Alex Smith risk his LONG-Term HEALTH to play again in the NFL?. Snyder owes him a boatload of money - WHETHER HE PLAYS OR NOT!

Secondly, even if Alex Smith out-plays Haskins in Training Camp, the new HC will have been brought to play Haskins and make him to a franchise-level QB, or NOT.

When you spend a first round draft pick for a QB you need to give him the chance to be the franchise QB. It happened with draft failures: Shuler, Jason Campbell and RG3. Historically the Redskins usually give him 20-30 games to prove his worth. That means even if Alex Smith makes a physical comeback he will be a backup QB to Haskins. Perhaps that’s all he wants.

It is tempting to trade down to get more picks but getting a superstar can ignite a team for its offense or defense. Who does the Redskin have that is a game changer? Super stud? McLaurin. If someone can get him the ball.

On defense we have no true outstanding players. Chase Young could be such a beast. He could turn the DL into something special and magnify the play of Allen, Sweat, etc. Having a guy like him could bring fans back.

Cap space will come by dumping all the overpaid vets who are tanking now OR always hurt. Moses, Norman, Richardson, Reed, Davis, McCoy, etc. Time for a youth movement and some new FA hired by a new HC.

One great player is not going to turn things around. How much impact did Sherff have?

I think 1 great pass rusher can significantly change a defense.

It would help, however, the Redskins need LBs, CB, S too. and on offense, they need OL, TEs, RBs, WR, and a QB (backup)

It is debatable whether Scherff was a good pick and certainly hasn't lived up to where he was drafted (which is not his fault) But a Nick Bosa or Von Miller type edge rusher can define a defence...... or an elite LT that the QB has faith will keep his blindside clean can help the offence go.

After watching the first half Sunday a centre who can snap the ball higher than 6 inches would very useful aswell

I judge the Scherff pick against what Leonard Williams has done. I would rather have Scherff. However, I never want to draft an interior O lineman in the top 10 ever again.

The first round of the 2017 NFL Draft will start on Thursday. The Cleveland Browns are on the clock. Every team is hoping to draft a Pro Bowler but which picks perform the best in the NFL Draft?

To answer this question we looked at every draft since 2000 and tallied the number of Pro Bowlers and 1st Team All-Pro selections by round using Pro-Football Reference.

As you would expect 1st Round draft picks have generated the most Pro Bowlers. Since 2000, there have been 540 1st Round picks, 212 of them have been invited to the Pro Bowl. The Browns have two picks in the first round; some might consider it a win if Cleveland can get two starters, let alone a Pro Bowler.

The 2nd Round has produced a lot of great players in the last decade: Drew Brees, LeSean McCoy, Rob Gronkowski and LeVeon Bell just to name a few. Yet, compared to the 1st Round there is a clear drop off in talent. Out of 539 players only 90 have managed to reach a Pro Bowl and even fewer have been honored as 1st Team All-Pros.

The overall success of players continues to decline as one moves down the draft. Just 44 players have been selected to a Pro Bowl that were drafted in the 3rd Round.
https://www.betlabssports.com/blog/p...est-nfl-draft/

And if you look at the top 15 picks of the first round vs 16-32 .... you are much more likely to land an elite player picking in the top 5 or 10 (obviously).

I do not want us trading out of the top 10 ... this team hasnt proven it can find quality 2nd or 3rd rounders and its harder to screw up a top 5 or top 10 pick.
