Re: Should we be drafting Tua???

In Rivera and Smith I trust. They know better than any of us. We have at least 3 good options in front of us - I am confident they will make the best possible decision.

For the life of me I can't understand how people are ignoring that especially given how hard this team has been hit with injuries in recent years and how everyone loves to bitch about drafting players with an injury history. He's had trouble standing up to the rigors of college ball, how is he going to deal with the pros where everyone is bigger and faster?
Because they see Tua has the bright shiny toy and are willing to look past injury concerns on the off chance he is the next Mahomes

Quick release , mobile , accurate as it get, leader , grit , winner, clutch..

I mean the dude is the real deal, saying yes to this question is not crazy at all. Again if Haskins didn't have the 2 good games at the end of the season, this may not be much of a disagreement.

Re: Should we be drafting Tua???

Haskins' cap numbers:
2020 $3.3M
2021 $4M
2022 $4.6M

#2 overall's ballpark cap numbers:
2020 $6.5M
2021 $8M
2022 $10M
2023 $11M

There is no doubt in my mind that we will have our franchise QB, our top-tier, 15 year starter QB - if we draft Tua #2.

AZ got a 2nd and a future 5th for Rosen after drafting Murray. We would probably get something spicier for Haskins if we go that route.

Or just keep them both, pay your starter and backup less money than a starting QB and build around that bargain over the next several seasons.

This pick is a slam dunk whether it's Young or Tua.

I remember that Haskins made some throws that Scary Terry had to make “circus catches “ .. Haskins big game was more on his support cast than him .. I’m not saying he will never be good but we have to at least consider other options ...

And I saw a few plays where Haskins made some amazing throws. (The one that called back vs the Jets, the 2nd TD vs the Giants, the 2nd TD vs the Eagles)

I'm a huge Georgia Bulldog fan so follow the SEC closely. Tua's injury history is a bit overblown because 2 of his injuries were high ankle sprains that could have and would have healed naturally. But Saban being the asshole that he is, persuaded Tua to get surgery both times to speed up recovery and allow him to play in the playoff

Not saying there are not legitimate concerns about the hip, but 3 surgeries is not as bad as it sounds

I am a huge LSU fan so I follow the SEC also. It is ankles, fingers, and the major hip injury. The concerns are legit

Until proper techniques become instinct for him his accuracy will not be consistent. Watching him kind of baffles the mind, almost like his attention to detail varies from one play to the next. I have seen him make a nice long throw even under pressure using good footwork and arm motion, putting a nice tight spiral right in a perfect window. He will then follow that up throwing a wobbly screen pass, side armed, off of one foot leaning sideways with no defender near him or in the passing lanes. It is like he isn't the same guy from one play to the next. I don't know what the hell is going on.

It is called a young rookie with growing pains.

To be fair, Alabama's wide receivers that Tua had to throw to were better than the Skins WR's the past couple years, McLaurin included.

By draft week you will be a believer, the kid is scary good. Good thing for my mindset is, Chase is a MONSTER so either pick I'm happy.. I'm also a fan of a loaded trade and adding 2 1's..

Point is guys we are in a great spot

I call bullshit on all of the Bama receivers being better than McLaurin. Our favorite son Terry is an NFL Star.
