Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

I just don’t understand the impulse to just stop playing for a miracle win. Even though the stats for a last-minute win are 100-1, playing to the last second is great practice for when the game CAN be won in the last seconds.

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

People seem to forget that Rivera was almost run out of town in Carolina for being ultra conservative.

He didn't become "Riverboat Ron" out of choice, he did it to keep his job.

I think what we are seeing now is the real Rivera.

Yeah, I thought we might be a .500 team, but now I agree that we’ll be lucky to win 4-6 games. Mostly against anemic teams in the NFC East. A team is heavily dependent on good or great QB play. Haskin’s is playing in a highly inconsistent mode, but near the bottom of the NFL QB’s. If he improves we may have a chance to win a couple games. But team’s know his Achille’s Heal - he occasionally reverts to starring down his WR or throwing high. They’ll have a high DB and looking for his stare downs. Unless he improves quickly, he’s going to get a couple INT per game..

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

Couple things about the game not named Haskins

1. I thought Oline was better as a unit, didn’t miss Schreff. Geron gave up strip sack and Roullier, Martin got blown up 1 or twice, but saw improvement.

2. Isiah Wright flashed. Gibson flashed.

3. Payne, Sweat, Jonathan Allen and Settle were good up front.

Agreed, Schweitzer looked good too IMO.

+

Oline being overall decent, Schweitzer looking good
Dline
Coverage throughout the game was good, couple of coverage sacks
Wright
Inman
Run blocking by the receivers
McKissick
Turner's playcalling

-

Apke still is taking awful angles
Some missed tackles
Haskins made too much mistakes for this team to overcome, despite making some nice plays too

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

Let's not get carried away with Sweat's performance against a rookie LT.

Sweat looked GREAT after Young left with a groin injury. Payne and Allen had some exciting moments. When Young is back in, the defense will improve. Big problem was the defense was on the field far too long.

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

Grades are in from yesterday.

Few notable ones to mention.

OFFENSE :

3 O lineman were in the top 5 of grades.

Terry had a 76 Overall grade again in the top 5 as usual.

Wright had a good day as well.

Haskins had the worst game of his career, finishing with a 29.2 overall grade and 33 passing grade.. BRUTAL

On DEFENSE

Apke had his best game with a 71.1 grade good for 5th on the defense yesterday.

Sweat , Allen , Curl and Settle were the other 4 in the top 5.

Curl is good

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

I dont care what the numbers say, our D gave up 34 points to the freakin Browns. By comparison Baltimore (a real D) held them to 6, and Cincy gave up the same. Is anyone else concerned that our problem lies on both sides of the ball?

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

Tim Settle is a highly underrated player. When he plays, u see his impact. He was playing in the backfield whenever he was in.

Curl is having a great start

Short fields and the offense can’t stay in the field

Re: Punch's Post-Game Thread

You can't blame the D when your QB gives them 3 possessions inside the 50
