I think the closest to that level of spending is when the Giants went on a crazy spending spree a couple of years ago. I think that's when they got Snacks Harrison Olivier Vernon and Janoris Jenkins.

Also, I don't want to defend Belichick, but him going on a spending spree is the equivalent of Brady going to a talented Tampa Bay Bucs team.

While it is amazing what Brady did, it's not like he went to the Jets and won a Super Bowl with that roster.

That being said, this Patriots spending spree is making this offseason a lot of fun to watch. It's like, who will they get next?!?!

NFL Free Agency Around the League

Did Darth Hoodie misread a decimal place in this year’s salary cap? How can they possibly afford this? Maybe Bellicheck is thinking one more SB run and then he retires, leaving the team in cap hell for years (and losing consistently as a result, thus appearing to affirm how important Bellichick is to the team).

(Initial misspelling intentional.)

Talented and well coached Bucs team. Good point.

Pats had a lot of cap space to begin with. Maybe around 60 mil? I'm not surprised they can afford that, I mean they NEVER paid anyone, so I don't think they were ever in any cap situations for the past decade.

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League

WR Kendrick Bourne, 25 yrs old, 72 pff, 49 catches, 667 yards last year.

3 yrs/15M .. 3.1M cap hit for 2021, they could cut him after 1 season and only have 2.8 dead money.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-engl...-bourne-22372/

Rapoport is saying its 3/22.5 so idk ... but if its 3/15 w so little guaranteed .. that is a great cheap signing by the Pats

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League

Per OTC:
the following teams are currently over the cap:
Rams at 38M
Bears at 20M
Eagles at 18M
Falcons at 14M
Saints at 12M
Packers at 2M

Most of those are probably one or two restructures away, but damn the Rams gotta a helluva alot of work by tomorrow 4pm.

Bill is feverishly trying to put together a stacked team in hopes of returning to the SB. I just don't think he gets it done with Cam...

I looked this up yesterday, they will do what the Boys do. Just restructure your mega cap hits. If the rams restructure Donald and Ramsey .. theyd get 28.9M in cap space right there.

If you know these players are going to be with you for the length of the contract, its fine. Hell, just add more voidbale years at the end as well. Just sucks if you do that for a Demarcus Lawrence then his play falls off considerably.

The cap is reportedly going to explode in a season or 2 so it seems like it wont catch up to you.

I think the Skins are a bit behind and old school thinking with the cap and how frugal they are honestly.

I think Bill is ahead of the curve. Again. As usual.

Lock in good players now with 3-4 year deals at 2021 rates bc next year and the year after, when the cap explodes, these same guys are going to be bargains compared to what it would cost in 2022 and 2023 rates.

Skins need to reup Logan Thomas right now.

Re: NFL Free Agency Around the League

Looking at NFL.com FA page, the Pats, Texans and Jags have all each signed more FA's than our entire division so far.
