re: Colts Officially Release Peyton Manning (QB Thread #11)

This is an emotional subject for all Redskins fans. Some of the posts on this thread are hilarious.
Look at the Colts this past year with out PManning.
Imagine NE without Brady. Imagine Saints with out Brees.
There are few certainties in the NFL, but these three Qb's along with Aaron Rodgers make their teams instant SB contenders and when healthy are 100% the real deal.
All this negative angry talk about PManning's injury or age makes me laugh. Because if you are going to throw around what ifs about Manning, you can do the same for any player. There have been more busts than PMannings type success at the top of the draft. If we spend a treasure trove on RGIII and he badly tears up his knee for a second time in his young career, that would not be good either. I am not saying that will happen, but Manning comes free, other than his salary. We would not lose a 2012 #1 and #2 and a 2013 #1 or #2. The draft is a crap shoot and the best QB of the 2012 class could very well be taken after the top two QB's. I know I do not need to remind everyone that Drew Brees was drafted in the second round, Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth and Aaron Rodgers was the 24th pick in his draft. But I will.
I'm sorry. But I am not sorry!

PM everyday of the week. There is no issue of can he take a hit, 3 doctors in the specialty field have said yes he can. Montana had the same surgery and played fine after his taking many hits while with KC. The issue is will be get his feeling back to throw? And that has been put to rest with not only multiple people saying he's throwing and throwing pretty good but a video showing him throwing which everyone has admitted its him, his agent, PM, and even his old GM.

"IF" there is any issue of his health put a claus in the contract which enables the team to. It him. Simple. The team will be picking up WR help no matter who they decide on and OL help. PM alone makes this team better and his knowledge is a thousand times more valuable then RGIII. Plus PM would be able to help work with a young Tannehill or Weeden if need be.
Definitely a top contender, adding a stud QB is at the top of their wish list

Seahawks: Gets to play in a relatively easy division, has a strong running game but not much in the way of WRs (Seahawks strongly looking at Flynn as well)

Chiefs: Another relatively easy division, and KC missed several key players with injuries. Peyton can stay in the midwest. Chiefs would let Orton go and happily bench Cassell for Manning

Jets: Can't find someone to take Sanchez off their payroll, a year later and this might have been a lock. At the moment, it's going to be tough

Cardinals: Manning to Fitzgerald...HOLY SH....

Redskins: Very tight with a key Redskin executive, has a lot of respect for Mike Shanahan, Kyle loves the idea of working with him, Skins have cap room to get him help

Those are probably your top contenders
SS,sticking with my original call months ago.....the Jets or the Cards.
I'm shocked at the responses about Shanny and Peyton have a problem with the offense. Signing Peyton Manning is as much for his genius offensive mind as it is for his ability. He would teach Kyle a thing or two and Mike is smart enough to let him do it. If the move is made for Manning, I am not worried at all that Mike, Kyle and Peyton wont have a monster offense put together. Add a big WR in FA along with a good, emerging running game and two strong TEs and the offense is automatically one of the best in the east.

Now, I love RGIII and think that for a long term solution, I would rather have him. He could be amazing for years to come -- legitimizing the Skins for more than just 2-3 years.

Having to talk about who you would rather have, Peyton Manning or RGIII, is pretty much the best problem we have ever had in an off-season. I will cry if we don't end up with one of them.
Well said.
Oh my God...get ready for my smack down people.

For those of you out there that think Peyton Manning coming here will (whether or not we get Wayne and Garcon) make us instant contenders in the east...WAKE THE F#$K UP!!!!

I am so enraged right now.

Have we not seen this before over the years?!?!?!?!?!

Its like we're all trying to find the great big name free agent to sign to make up for all or most of the bad big name free agent signings we've had in the past.

People then come up with "Oh thats the old management, this new management is different..." well this new management is still being judged, because this new management is also being viewed as the same management that decided to trade away a 2nd and another pick for Donovan McNabb, a guy who didn't even finish out the season with us.
People here always do the old "yeah ___ ____ may not work out, but ____ ____ is different..." No its not much different because we've seen this movie before in the past.

There are people on this board that truly believe that if we sign Peyton Manning (the greatest QB of all time IMO) we will be instant contenders if he stays healthy.

So apparently we decide to look at the positives and ignore the negatives, which, oh, by the way, got us in trouble with Albert Haynesworth a few years ago.

People are here saying "Oh Albert is soo good; he's the best DT today!; he'll make our whole team good; he's a pro bowler; With him and orakpo watch out we could go far with our DL, possibly like the giants"

But buried in all that was a few smart fans here saying things like "I don't know he only played good when it was his contract year; he never stayed healthy; he got into fights with coaches and teammates; he stomped on a guys head and has a lot of character issues; he's going to be another Dana Stublefield signing"...

well same thing with signing manning

positives
+ he's one of the greatest QB's of all time
+ he's better than what we have now at QB

negatives
- he could be hit right in the neck and never play a down of football again or even be paralyzed.
- hes been in one offense his whole life
- hes had some great skill players around him in Indy
- he isn't mobile getting out of the pocket/he doesn't fit the mike shanahan zone blocking bootleg offense
- he is at the end of his career
- he wants $$$ and he knows we pay.
- we are out of the draft for a potential franchise QB like RG3

Guys it will be a blessing in disguise when Peyton doesn't sign here, trust me.
I could make a list of positives and negatives on RG3 too, and any player that plays football is one hit away from being paralyzed.

all of you all are forgetting one thing with mcnabb running the offence we had the 8th ranked passing attack and pretty much the same recievers. now let see we have and above average run game going to get better recievers and have a defense that can play with the lead how do you beat a team like that.

I heard this rumor/speculation this morning from a guy I know:

Rumor is Peyton signs with the Texans….Schaub traded to Skins for Orakpo and picks. Schaub reunited with Kyle S. Mario Williams signs with Skins.

I find it hard to beleive becasue seems like to many things have to fall into place, plus why would Houston part with Schaub he is a perfect fit there.
