After 2 games so far, when under pressure he does struggle some but I will say he's damn good in the pocket when he has the time like very accurate and fast release

Haskins will be the franchise QB of the Redskins for the next decade. I think he will win the contest to start as QB this season, as I don't think Smith or maybe even McCoy will be back from their injuries. He will have the usual rookie QB issues of the first season, but the Redskins have a pretty good OL to keep him relatively safe. The biggest problem is that the 'skins WR group is weak. I hope that the Redskins will try to get one more good WR from FA before the season to help him out. Over the last couple years the Redskins have let three 1,000+ yard WR leave the team, while hoping that Dougherty will somehow not be a bust. Hopefully, our two WR draft picks will do well.

I am glad the Redskins took the chance to get a franchise QB from the draft, Allen's decision last year to spend millions on a 35+ year old QB was a stupid mistake that the Redskins will pay for in cap money for the next few years. Haskins is the future!

Totally agree w/ Billick. You don't learn how to beat NFL defenses by sitting and watching. I don't care if he's 21. He's a mature kid. If he can't handle it then sit him down and play Colt or Case. But I'm giving Haskins all the first team reps right away. At least that way he can get the reps and get comfortable. We aren't going anywhere w/ Case or Colt.

He does have some bad tape out there, just like all the other guys. I remember watching that Penn St game and they were getting after him pretty good. He was terrible against Purdue. My thing is he's a full time NFL player now. He can work on all this stuff now full time and get NFL coaching. We'll see if he can make progress through the off season stuff and training camp.

This is why I'm giving him all the off season reps, he's only started one season of college. He needs the reps in the worst way.

Thanks for sharing the video, I really like this as this helps me to see better how Haskins think on the field. I have to be honest, when we first drafted Haskins, I had mixed feelings about him but the more I watch Haskins' highlights and I read about Haskins, I'm starting to like him more. Haskins plays really well when he has time to throw ball, which means we need to make sure our Oline depth is much better than last year to help Haskins develop well.

This. I understand the idea of having him sit a year and learn behind Colt/Case but I say screw all that.

Get him in there and get him learning. Give him all the reps, ride with the highs and lows of a first year QB and get the experience.

I also agree with your first point, he can work on all his deficiencies full time now. A couple of his biggest knocks are footwork and spiral velocity. Both easily fixed. The important stuff is there, especially for this offense. He can read defenses quickly and get the ball out on time.

I'll admit I was lukewarm about the pick at the time but the kids starting to grow on me. I'm excited to see him out there.

Haskins needs the reps. I don't think he needs to sit and watch Colt McCoy play for a season. Get him in there and suffer through the ups and downs of a rookie season.

The notion that he is slow in the pocket is so false. Kid has all the tools to be a great NFL QB. It's up to the team to surround him with the weapons needed. This guy could fight for R.O.Y . I've watched every snap he had in 2018 over the past week, he's the real deal.

Where is the best place to catch these games? I watched the OSU vs TCU game earlier today on one of the ESPN channels.

I watch the A22 footage but that is through work, I'd say check out the Maryland game, (2nd half he was amazing). Michigan and Washington games. I have also seen his worst game of the season (Penn St).

Haskins was well protected for most of the season. If you watch the highlight tapes on YouTube, they show the big plays, the long TD passes. On those the line all blocked so well that he could sit and wait for his WRs to uncover down the field and then he releases a bomb.

What you don't see on the highlights very often is how he did when the pocket actually collapsed. If you watch enough clips on YouTube you eventually see them - you can see he feels the rush and slides around in the pocket well. This is not a situation like Kirk Cousins who just didn't feel the rush very well and as a result he fumbled so often.

Haskins slides around, takes a few steps here or there, slides up in the pocket, all while keeping his eyes downfield. He doesn't look at the rush and he doesn't panic. It's a good base upon which he can build. He'll have to work on the timing-based routes in Gruden's system to get them down pat, but I don't have concerns that we're getting a QB who's going to take a lot of sacks.

He's a pocket passer, but one with pocket awareness. And he's not a complete statue, you'll see plays on YouTube where he scrambles away pretty well. Don't mistake a QB who stays in the pocket and keeps his eyes downfield for one who can't move around at all.

Can't agree more, his film proves why he was regarded as the #1 pocket passer in this class. He also can move better than what "experts" said. Ran RPO sets often.
