Re: Scott Turner Fired
Chances of winning it all in the next 2 years with Rodgers is much higher than without him.
Yes it's a risk and a move all your chips to the center of the table type of move. But fuck it, go big. That said I seriously doubt it would happen given the ownership situation.
Id get on board if it happened and a championship would erase any cares about the future. If we run with Howell they better damn well make all the right moves around him. Either way we would be in a better position at quarterback than this year. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
Don't fall for what RR was saying during that presser about wanting to run the ball.
Last offseason tells us all we need to know about what he wanted from the offense this year. They drafted a WR and a receiving TE. They signed Wentz for his arm and ability to stretch the field. They opened up the season trying to throw it 35-40 times a game until Wentz showed he couldn't get it done. They only reverted to pounding the ball once the Wentz experiment failed. Instead of admitting they failed yet again at finding a QB and that's why the offense was run heavy, Ron tried to make it sound like that was the plan all along. It wasn't.
Exactly. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
Bringing AR in here would be a terrible idea. He is past his prime. Can't even beat the Lions at home with everything on the line. He isn't the player he once was. He was just throwing the ball up for grabs cause the Lions were putting heat on him. He doesn't want to get hit anymore.
I can get 3,600 and 26 td's out of Howell. Sure I may have to deal with some young QB mistakes but so be it. I want a QB to build around, not a guy who's a diva and is thinking about retirement after every season. Also AR is not coming here under any circumstances. He'd retire before he came here.
Those are top 10 statistics. You feel that confident he will be that? I think he is some one that you can build around but not sure I'd expect that output. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
I really think Ron needs a guy that he can just leave alone so he can concentrate on whatever the hell it is he does. Still not sure what that is but keep my quarterback and my offense out yo mouth!
Punch, what do you think about John Morton? He's the "Senior Offensive Assistant" in Detroit. Before that he held the same position with the Raiders from 2019-2021. Pretty impressive years for Carr and Goff during his tenure at those places. As an offensive coach, he's worked under Bill Callahan, Norv Turner, Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Pete Carroll, and Jon Gruden. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
I’d watch Mike Shula for OC. Don’t feel one way or the other, just experienced and there is a connection with Ron.

In 17 games w/ our pass catchers? I don't see why those numbers can't be reached. That's like an average of 210 yards. Howell only got one game, give him a full offseason and a ton of work in pre season. He has to have competition but he deserves a shot- otherwise why'd they draft him? |

@MikeGarafolo
The #Commanders reached out to former #Colts and #Lions head coach Jim Caldwell about their vacant OC job, sources tell me and @RapSheet, but he told them he’s only pursuing head-coaching opportunities. He’s interviewed for two this cycle. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
LOL What did he do as a HC?? No thanks

Know nothing about him other than what i just looked up. Also fired from the Jets and sort of underwhelmed at USC but yeah his recent success with quarterbacks especially Goff is impressive. Has a ton of experience. More ups than downs. I wouldn’t be mad at that hire. |

I seriously don't understand why they fired ST. Why bother?? Until we are sold no one is going to look at Washington as a meaningful landing spot, there is too much up in the air. |
Re: Scott Turner Fired
He had no choice. The defense was top 10, and the offense was bottom 10. Not to mention the players were vocal about the fact that the talent is there, but the game planning and play calling are not.
