It's starting to look like we are gearing up for a run in 2004, with our RBs and QBs.

I can't believe how aggravated/frustrated I am by this move...

If McNabb is good at tossing it to a little dude, then why can't we just use our own receivers?

Agree. but the move allows us to have a QB better than JC and at the same time gives us a great opportunity to cash in on JC.

I've just read 26 pages on something I never even considered would ever really happen. Shock would be an understatement. It's hard to even comment on this. It will definitely take a while to sink in and by that time, there will probably be more changes. This was one hell of a curveball. What's next? I'm finally at a loss for words which at this time is probably for the best.

This just doesn't seem like a new regime. Cerrato is smiling right now or is Snyder tweaking his roster on Madden 10.
Just got the news, your statement is what I keep thinking about.

There has been no contract discussion, so it's not outside the realm of possibility McNabb is traded on draft day. What do we know:

1) We're not "boxed in" on a starting LT or QB at #4.
2) The FO does not have enough faith in Campbell to go into the season with him as the starting option at QB.
3) We will likely be making more trades either right before or during the draft for picks in the 2-3 round range.

Let's say we stand pat, McNabb is a major upgrade over Campbell (if healthy) for the next two seasons. We will come away with one of the top 2 LTs or more picks in the first round, or both. What did we lose, our second rounder....who many here were saying to use on Colt McCoy. McNabb is light years ahead of what McCoy will ever be.
Good post. And I totally agree with everything you said. I could see him traded on draft day, just not sure to whom.

One way or another, we've got to acquire more draft picks.

Shefter just said JC will be traded for sure and possibly for a 2nd rd pick... He also said Shanny called JC and told him the teams plans.

Trevor Matich also just said the Skins could become an instant Playoff contender today.

How, it's like playing poker, and showing your cards before the last raise. Do this on draft day and package all the deals. Do it now,and Buffalo knows when to call our bluff.

Seriously. I mean, look at our offense! Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis, Willie Parker, Santana Moss, Donovan McNabb?? Wooot! Circa 2006, I'd be like, CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Sigh.....

I honestly think McNabb can make us a legit contender only if we upgrade our Oline instantly.

I just feel that Campbell has gotta be a better back up option than Charlie Whitehurst. I hope we get something for Campbell.

Donovan will be the QB this year and for 4 - 6 years to come. NOw lets try to move 'los, JC, Carter and one of our TE's for some picks.

I'll take the deal. McNABB is still good for a few years. draft a qb in the later rounds, let him grow the Skins will be fine.

No doubt Sammy there is no comparison.. JC has never been a Franchise QB. DMcNabb is a future HOF.. (Hopefully SB champion also :) JC deserves another shot in another city. I bet we get a decent pick for him.

He just got even more yards from down the field plays, which won't translate for all of the obvious reasons.

How can you not be happy with this trade ... a 2nd rounder and a 3-4th next year and we will get that pick back by trading JC .. are you freaking kidding me ... SHANNY and ELWAY .. 2 SUPER BOWLS ????????? RING A BELL ??? JOHN ELWAY was 1 year older than McNabb when he took over ... then Elway had a superbowl mvp and oh yeah another title ... (espn) .... HAIL TO THE REDSKINS I WILL BE BACK IN FED EX FOR THE PHILLY GAME THIS YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

I don't see the down side really. We needed OL at #4. McNabb is a proven QB not a roll of the dice at #37 for someone whose value we wouldn't see until next year anyway. JC just got that much more valuable to the teams that did not land McNabb. We won't know how good a move this was until the draft, but we just got better bargaining chips and are better for the next few years no matter who we drafted in the second round.

for a 1 year loaner with minimally better stats(my opinion only), we gave up the 37th pick and a 4th next year. McNabb is what he is, but what good does he do us when he goes to the Vikings, or whereever. In the end he will be a minor improvement over JC and we will have given up 2 useful picks. But what's done is done. C'est la guerre.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Mike Shanahan is about as close to a QB developing god as there is in the current NFL. I'm predicting a huge ressurection of McNabb's career. No more Fat Andy and 5000+ passes a game. No more being forced to be a pocket passer all day. Bootlegs are a frequent feature in Shanny's O. McNabb maybe primarily a pocket passer now, but we know what his instincts are. O is from the same coaching tree. No idiot head coach AND D-coordinator revealing their ENTIRE POKER HANDS, if you get the metaphor, to the opponent. A workout regiment that is sure to improve the performance of even the scrubs on the team.
The mean is 8 wins, and the standard deviation is 2 wins, give or take.
