I will give Haynesworth one big prop -- I do like anyone that stomps on Cowboys.

We have not had a DT that was worth anything in forever.
Id rather have Dan Snyder than Jeffrey Lorie (eagles owner). Those fans are so pissed every year because they have had a very good team for the past decade and are always 20 mil under the cap. Imagine if they had added a piece here or there...suckers.
Yet, they outperform us nearly every year, and get to the NFC finals -- something we have not breathed on in at least a decade. I would not have a problem with the moves if we just needed one piece... but we need so many.

We havent had a Donovan McNabb playing QB for us in the past 10 years.

Dont get me wrong... I like Campbell...but our QB situation has sucked in recent history.

No argument there. I want to like Campbell, but he has not proven that we don't need to go get a QB. We certainly do not have a capable qb behind him if he goes down or is benched.

Back to Haynesworth - Playing the Cowboys (and Gurode) may be a constant reminder to him that he almost lost the privilege of playing the game. Of course, 41M guarranteed money can make one feel incredibly privileged anyway.
We will totally regret this signing - WAY more downside than updside. Here's my reasons:

1) Too much $$. That is Peyton Manning money and you can't tell me that Fat Albert (who will probably participate in only about 60% of the snaps) is worth that.

2) His old team and Detroit (new HC is old DC at Titans) did not go after him aggressively at all. They obviously know he's NOT worth the money.

3) He's hurt. A lot.

4) He's got no motivation to perform - and has shown to be a player that needs motivation to perform.

5) The Titans' system was designed to collapse the pocket from the outside via speed rushing DE's and force the QB to step up into Fat Albert's path. I think we'll find out that this HUGELY inflated his numbers.

6) Not a high-character guy. (Neither is DeAngelo Hall who we just blew another rediculous wad of money on). This is the anti-Gibbs philosophy. How many perennial SB contenders do you see with character issue guys? Patriots? Steelers? Bad for team chemistry.

7) I guarantee you that in 2-3 years we're going to have a situation where we'll have to re-wicker his contract and it's going to be a media mess with trash-talking, holdouts, etc...

8) At this price, short of a repeat of what he did last year - it will be a complete DISASTER.

9) Cut & Paste all of these comments for MeAngelo Hall as well.
I agree w/all 9. Really seems that DS has amnesia.

If I'm correct our back up QB is something like 4 to 1 so what do you base that off of.

I don't give a rat's ass about how much he's getting. I'm not the one paying him so who cares? All I care about is his play on the field. I like the fact that he has a mean streak. Since the death of ST, our defense has lacked "nastiness". Glad to have some of that injected into the D line for a change. Hopefully, he will be as good as he was in TN.

As a change-up on 3rd down, Haynesworth-Griff-Monty- Carter or JT would look pretty stout.

Re: Albert Haynesworth is a Redskin!!!!

Let's be real for a minute. There's downside to every deal. Every single one. There's always the potential issue of injuries, lack of production, and character flaws, and system knowledge at the professional level. So in my opinion, money is irrelevant to the extent that someone was going to sign him and benefit from his services anyway. So why not the Redskins. There's just a point, when it comes to a superstar athelete in his prime, some team will always be perceived as overpaying for this guy or that guy. What about the 49ers making a cornerback the highest paid player in NFL history last year? Since the Washington Redskins have a reputation for overspending, it just makes for juicier conversation.

The point is, as far as numbers are concerned, can we stay under the cap. And we always seem to find a way to do so. So I could care less how much they paid for Haynesworth. Seriously. The whole argument about cap numbers and too much in salary is worthless in my opinion. You either win or lose in this league. Fans don't give a shit how much you were under the cap come Super Bowl sunday every year. They just don't. Now there can be an argument made that if we don't spend too much on this guy, we can afford that guy. But I digress.

I just want the Skins to win. Period. Sometimes the big names work out and sometimes they don't. Bottom line, for the first time in a long time, we have a bona-fide bad ass in burgundy and gold. Sure, if he blows out his knee in camp, yeah, it looks like a bad effin move. But if we can keep Brandon Jacobs from running down our throats on third and short with the division title on the line, you betcha, Haynesworth was worth every burgundy cent of his contract.
