He's not refusing to play for or sign with the Rams though. He told us today that's all BS. The chance to play for the Redskins? Sure it'd be exciting, tradition, Shanahan, parents are big fans, etc. But if the Rams take him he'd be thrilled and happy to play for them.
Yeah I saw him answer that stuff on NFLN. Just what that guy was thinking I guess.

I'm sure he has a preference but I can't see him holding out for forever, only time can tell.

For the people that keep saying Bradford has a preference to play in DC...

Sam Bradford to Rachel Nichols on speculation he'd prefer D.C. over St. Louis: "I've never said anything even remotely close to that."

Yeah he's been facing a lot of those questions. Basically even if he does have a strong preference he's not going to say it, at least not now.

Lol on the other hand, Shanahan has a strong preference for everyone. Portis, Johnson, Parker, Big Mike, Heyer, Bradford, Tebow, Clausen. Is there anyone Shanahan doesn't like?

I agree; QB is a crapshoot, and if the Skins get Bradford and he busts? The Shanahan era will also bust here.
Still, the thought that we might have an 'elite' QB here with an 'elite' Head Coach and a progressive Offensive Co-ordinator is an enticing proposition. For me personally, I would much rather have Bradford/Saffold then Okung/McCoy.

Anyone read the article on Yahoo sports? Five moves that should be made before the NFL draft - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

I would be pissed if we gave up that much to move 3 spots. I can understand a flop of picks this year and a flop of picks next year. However, I can't see giving them our first round pick next year for 3 spots.

"Besides, the Redskins never have been shy about dumping draft picks. So why not take the 2011 first-round selection, package it with a failed free-agent signing (or two) from past years, and offer a flip-flop to St. Louis?"
He drafted Clady in the 1st a few years ago, I'm sure he understands the importance of talent on the OL.
At the same time he draft Cutler two years before he got Clady. If he likes Clausen enough to take him at 4 then I doubt he'll have any bones about passing up a top tackle prospect.

I looked at the profiles of all the QB's taken in the first since 2003. There is no way of telling what you're going to get. A competent offensive coaching staff is probably your best chance of success along with a solid work ethic.

So, I was listening to NFL live today, and they were talking about what I'm sure has been discussed in this thread already about how the St. Louis dispatch reported that Bradford isn't going to sign a pre-draft contract, and it could be influenced by what Bradford's been hearing from other teams..The NFL live staff all said maybe a team that picks fourth like I don't know,... Washington?

My point is I think that the more little reports that come out like this, especially that Bradford isn't going to pull a stafford and sign a contract before the draft, tells me that the chances of the rams picking Bradford go down little by little the more reports that come out.

I say when all is said and done, Shanahan, BA, and Snyder will all say "This is Our guy, and We have to have him...we'll do anything to get him" I say the only way I believe Sam Bradford isn't a skin is when we officially sign our draft pick at number 4. I think even if the Rams take him at number 1 overall, we'll pull a trade for him. I believe that when all is said and done, Sam Bradford will most likely be a Redskin.

1 draft QB ain't gonna kill you

don't have to start rookie year

if he's still not the best option he gets pushed back.. sucks as far as pay goes but yeah

Actually, from what I've seen of both Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan, I don't think they buy into the "this is our guy we have to have him" philosophy. They seem to believe in getting who is available and building a team. I didn't look, but does anyone know whether BA or MS has ever done a trade up and sacrifice future picks?

They didn't sacrifice much but the Broncos traded up to take Cutler.

Thanks Lotus, still they traded 1st's and a pick they had acquired from someone else. I find it hard to think they would trade up because, as Shanahan pointed out, he hasn't drafted this high in a long time, if ever. He can get an impact player at 4th overall, and I assume that's what he will do.

But if I am wrong, and he trades up, as long as it's not Herschel Walker style, I will be ok with that.
