Re: Stafford in WFT Plans? He’s Available

Does Stafford have a no trade clause? If not, his wants aren't very important to where he gets traded. Unless he specifically says he ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT want to be traded to WFT, we have just as good as a chance as anyone else.

He doesn’t, but do you want to take a chance that he doesn’t resign? (his contract is up in two years I believe)....it is widely assumed that a contract extension will be part of the trade. That won’t happen if he’s traded to a team he really doesn’t want to go to.

Per @MikeGarafolo Jimmy Garapolo is reportedly staying with the 49ers.

WFT
Colts
Rams
In. That. Order.

We are improving, have McLaurin and cap space. Don't see any reason why Stafford wouldn't want to play here long term. I'd still trade for him for 2 years. But the team can have those conversations before any trade. A contract extension is not a deal breaker imo.

Oh for me it is. For what it will cost to land him, I'm not willing for it to be a 2 year rental. At least a four year deal has to be a part of the team/player negotiations.

I hear what you’re saying, but I’d have a hard time trading anything of value for a two year rental. He should want to come here because we will actually build around him and already have a better D than he ever had in Detroit. But who knows?

And a better run game.

Regardless of whether we sign him or not I am impressed at the lack of "sources" about the WFT intentions. It is frustrating as a fan to not know, but it is definitely a more professional feel.

You know all those times the last two decades our fans channeled Pinocchio and said, “we’re going to be a real franchise one day”! That day has come. We have coaches and front office staffers with football minded knowledge, integrity, and work ethic. And it’s rubbing off on our players and their performance. Not a bunch of 🤡s running a circus.

Per Josina Anderson

Text from league source on the #Lions trade talks for QB Matthew Stafford: "I’m sure they'll get a trade, but right now they're looking for a sucker to overpay."

The Lions are looking to hoodwink a team.

New WFT (hopefully) - offer fair value trade. Keep name in hat. Win some lose some. Build team structure with players who want to be play their role and excel

Yeah. As badly as I wanted Stafford that is pretty steep.
