Re: WFT Free Agency
Elbow surgery. Still recovering. He snapped with partially torn ligaments this year. The ball was tailing on him a little. I think there’s at least a little concern on Ron’s part that he won’t come back the same, or at least enough concern to say I can just find a different snapper at the same price (minimum) who will perform the same, and I won’t have to think about elbow recovery.
Actually, I'm pretty sure that the new snapper will be at a lower price. Due to his years of service, the minimum for Sundberg is almost double what it would be for a new guy, as I understand it. |

Yup. Will our FA signings, Scherff, Allen 5th year, etc., we'll need to squeeze out all the cap space we can. Competent long snappers on cheap UDFA deals or something similar should be feasible. |
Then why cut Sundberg? I didn't remember him having a bad season last year.
are we really worried about who the long snapper is? lol. sunberg had a nice run here but at the end of the day, no one gives a damn who snaps on punts and field goals. |
Re: WFT Free Agency
I think that ol-Fitzt magic will win us some games next season, we'll be good enough to win the East and lose to the Bucs again in the first round!!

It’s actually not true. There’s a rule that says if you’re making the vet minimum, you count the same against the cap as the rookie minimum. They do it for this exact reason, so vets don’t get cast aside just because a rookie saves $200K in cap space. I don’t think cost goes into the Sundberg decision significantly at all. It’s just about finding a guy with fewer injury questions. |

We will when the next guy gets the jitters on a game-winning field goal and chucks the ball 30 yards behind the holder. People just assume the shits easy because talented players make it look easy. This is one of those decisions nobody will care about unless we can't find another talented guy that isn't coming off an injury for next year. |
Re: WFT Free Agency
Good update from Keim:
Looking ahead: Washington, with approximately $21 million in cap space, has mostly exited from the big spending stages of free agency. It will make some other signings, emphasizing depth or re-signing more of their own such as corner Fabian Moreau or LB Jared Norris on one-year deals. There will possibly be more low-end signings post-draft as well, once the team sees what it needs. Carrying cap space into 2022 will be a goal as well. John Keim, ESPN Staff Writer |
Re: WFT Free Agency
It's starting to look like we will look to resolve the LB and TE needs through draft.. Maybe FS too if we don't sign Tre Boston.

I think Keim said that someone like Tre Boston would be a post-draft signing (if he's still available). Likewise, I can see the team going after Ertz if/when the Iggles release him post draft. |

Steven Montez will play all of those positions. |

.... and long snap. |
Re: WFT Free Agency
I still would love to sign an OLB there are some fairly good one available and I do like signing Moreau a lot

Re: WFT Free Agency
Got a ping from NFL.com saying Cam Sims has re-signed, but I can't see anything official anywhere?

Signed his tender...gonna make 2 mill. Good deal, shown enough for depth |
Re: WFT Free Agency
And Moreau is now a Falcon. Given him and Darby out and Jackson in, they have to be looking for another CB in the draft. Moreland hasn't been a disappointment but is he CB1/2 quality?
