Don't put a lot of faith in them..I think Davin Joseph and Ryan Harris could be Skins as soon as FA starts, along with Aubrayo Franklin, and Ike Taylor
Your GM skills are giving your QB evaluation skills a run for their money. jeez. |

Yeah, give us another safety.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Neild the crappy NT from WVU

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
NT Chris Neild from WVa
Moyock likes him. |

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
NT Chris Neild
Unsung hero on the defensive line who returns for his third season as the starter at nose tackle … a defensive playmaker who loves to do the dirty work in the trenches … All-American candidate … coaching staff will count on him for leadership … good run stopper … named all-BIG EAST preseason first team by Phil Steele’s, Athlon Sports, Yahoo! Sports and Sporting News … Dean’s List … Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll … BIG EAST Academic All-Star … bowl trips: 2007 Gator, 2008 Fiesta, 2008 Meineke, 2010 Gator. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Don't know who they give invites to. Might be interesting. Plus who they bring in from FA.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Chris Neild was a major reach at that spot
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Chris Neild is a good last pick. A lot of people had him going higher. We need more youth on the DL besides Jenkins.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I love how on NFL.com it says that he won't be able to play NT in a 3-4..hahaha and thats what we drafted him for

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I am kind of disappointed that only one O-Lineman was drafted out of all the picks we had.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
NT Neild...
When a 3-4 nose tackle is doing his job correctly, few people will notice because they tend to spend time eating up blocks instead of chasing the ball. But Big East coaches noticed Neild's ability to eat up blocks to free up linebackers in the WVU 3-3-5 defense during his senior season, naming him first-team all-conference despite making only 35 tackles, four for loss and 3.0 sacks. It was the second consecutive year Neild received accolades with paltry statistics; his second-team all-conference junior season saw him make only 35 tackles, two for loss. His most productive season statistically was his sophomore year (45 tackles, 4.5 for loss, 2.5 sacks), the first season he was the starting nose tackle after contributing as a redshirt freshman (13 tackles, 0.5 sack). Most people associate the 3-4 nose tackle with a wide body like Ted Washington or Vince Wilfork. But Pittsburgh and Baltimore have relied on somewhat smaller pluggers like Chris Hoke and Kelly Gregg in the middle of their defenses. Neild fits that mold to a tee, making him a likely late-round pick who expects to play for a long time. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Another high character guy:
"Developed into the leader and pace setter along the defensive line. Selected as a team captain during senior campaign. Awarded the John Russell award by the coaches during his junior season (2009) for his leadership skills." He is stout with a strong lower half and is very difficult to move out of running lanes. He also has very active hands to keep blockers from getting inside and flashes the lateral range to make plays outside of the tackle box. However, he lacks explosion off the line and is very raw as a pass rusher. Neild possesses natural leverage and is an asset against the run and he will likely be a middle round pick. |

National Football League: NFL Draft 2011 - Chris Neild
You also saw the part where they said he was supposed to be a middle round pick? "Neild is a run-stopping defensive tackle who could contribute in a defensive line rotation at the next level. He is stout with a strong lower half and is very difficult to move out of running lanes. Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
@CRed - LOL. Jeez, it's almost like you're my brother or something!
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
When I first saw pictures of him I channeled my inner Jamie Dukes and said "oh no, another white street kid." However he does have a reputation as a very hard worker and at the very least you see it in his body (no homo). Hes much more muscular then other 320 pounders you see.

Fast Forward to 2:52 where he takes on a double team to stop his future teammate

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Just going to throw this out there. Obvioulsy Kerrigan, Jenkins, and Hankerson make the team.
I think that Neild, Hurt, Robinson, Royster, and Helu+ make the team. I don't feel to good about Paul and Gomes, and Thompson. Then again I didn't feel good about Austin and Horton so what do I know? |

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I like this draft. Passing on Gabbert might haunt us but the did land the player they wanted in the first and did a good job of adding additional picks throughout the draft.
The top 3 picks were perfect IMO. We became a better football team. Knowing Shanny, at least 1 of the 2 RBs will be a surprise. Looking at the Wrs we drafted it seems like we are going to air it out next year ( who is throwing i do not know). They are all home run threats and we already have Armstrong who has an insane YPC. We are going deep often next year. If we get some depth / special teamers out of the rest of the picks, I think we did good. We actually addressed needs this year. Outside LB and NT makes our D sooooo much better. If WR and RB is taken care off too, we did alright. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Think I am with you on that Dirt. If that is the result (8 new players out of 12 picks), I am more than okay with that. You figure Jenkins, Kerrigan and Hankerson are probable starters.
I wouldn't be suprised if Nield ends up as a starting NT by the end of the year. If we get 5 starters out fo this, that would be a damn good draft. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I loved how he reached out from under the pile and grabbed the leg and held on!
Yeah, he made the play while double teamed. granted the RB didn't make a good cut but Nield took advantage fo the opportunity and hadn't been driven off the line. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Good draft, lots of solids and potential. Can't wait to see them all on the field...

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
I'm impressed. So different from what I've grown accustomed to lately. Split 6-6 offense and defense. Should make for great competition in camp.

Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Fantastic draft IMO. If we can couple this with a solid FA signing, I think we could be contenders in two years after these rookies get a year under their belts and we get a QB.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Yup. I agree. Appears to be a great draft. Time will tell and it really does take a little skill and a little luck for a successful draft.
At the same time, well played FO! |
.... BTW... Neild...
30 reps of 225lbs at the combine... WAAYYY... WAAAYYYY stronger than Jenkins
I think that the bench press actually just gauges how obssessed the player is with visting the weight room(how often he went in college), NOT HIS CEILING FOR STRENGTH. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Jenkins seems a bit of a reach ... but here is hoping they know what they are doing with him.

I called this in the round 2 and 3 thread. Can I get some credit. |
Re: 2011 NFL Draft: Rounds 4-7
Well I really hope they address the interior offensive line in FA. I really want Rabach gone, good dude but I'm tired of seeing get trucked over by Jay Ratliff
