Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
the play calling is horrific, we finally eliminate all of the stupid penalties which i thought were killing us before but apparently not. i mean, a half back draw on 3rd down with 40 sec left? what happened to the ol' brunell bootleg play, i would have liked to see campbell either throw or run it in
I wouldn't say the playcalling was "horrific", or even bad -- it was pretty good (like someone else said, Betts had 155 yards). However, I was thinking the exact same thing about the Brunell bootleg. |
Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
This is just plain out stupid. Sorry, but I have to say it. Every time when our team plays to our strengths...which is RUNNING THE FREAKIN' ball, people whine and piss their diapers because our offense is playing too conservative. Yet, look at the games we have won this year and in the recent past...it's because we have RAN THE FOOTBALL MORE THAN WE HAVE PASSED! Gee....so if we win more when we run the football, it only makes sense to run the football. I guess people want Campbell to drop back on every play and pass it 40 yards down field. I'm sure it works on your computer games.
Actually skinsguy no one was complaining about being too conservative, and no one said anything about campbell needing to throw more in the game. We all know that our strength is running the ball, and that it gives us the best chance to win. I'm pretty sure what everyone was whining and "pissing their diapers" about was the playcalling after our lead, as implied in the title of the thread. Check this article out.. Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
Why does everyone want to focus on the offense when the bigger problem was the D getting gashed for 200+ yards on the ground??
the problem, in my eyes, was the playcalling. betts was running all over atlanta, and for some reason, mr saunders wants to be super smart and keep passing the football. we could have dominated the time of possesion, and kepy our defense off the field, if we chose to keep running the football. and we definitely run better between the tackles, as opposed to the stupid sweeps saundrs keeps calling |
Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
I wonder if he'll be calling all the plays next year.

Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
you have to remember, that for the past two years, we could win games like that...get a lead, let the D and running game take over. Its hard to switch gears this late in the season when nothing is going your way. I'm not saying what happened was justified though, but perhaps if the D returns to form, it won't matter so much. Someone suggested blaming the D line, and I didn't see much of the second half...but what I did see is Wright/Rumph getting burned a lot, and giving way too big of cushions
It was last year we won games like that not the year before we were 6/10 in 2004. |

Actually soccercycbk, yes they have been complaining about the offense being too conservative, especially this last game. If you have been here as long as I have, you would know where I am coming from with this, but you'd rather go on attack mode instead of trying to look at things from other's point of view. Don't call me out again. |
Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
I can't remember the last game we lost with a 150+ rusher and 100+ receiver. That campbell turnover made the difference, I blame that on AL for calling 10 straight playactions, getting campbell in trouble.

That is a pretty bizzare stat, isn't it? To have both a rusher and a passer go over 100 Yds and still lose. Anyway, minus the interception I thought Campbell played okay - not great, but he didn't stink it up either. |

Excellent point! You run to set up play action and every time we did it, the RB had a big hole up the middle. The run to PA ratio should be like 3:1 respectively. Stop trying to outsmart yourself AL!!! |
Re: How Is Our Playcalling?
Was anyone else surprised when the Skins accepted the penalty with Atlanta on the 7 on second down? Instead of 3rd down at the 7 it was 2nd down at the 17. The scenarios for the following play run as follows:
Atl gains up to 6 yards: a FG vs. 3rd and goal from between the 11 and the ~20 Atl gains 7-9 yards: a TD vs. 3rd and goal from about the 9 Atl gains 10+ yards: a TD vs. 3rd and goal within the 7 or a TD (what actually happened) I thought by taking the penalty we actually opened up their passing game, if they had tried to rush they wouldn't have netted the necessary yardage since everyone was near the goal line. Did anyone else have that reaction during the game (or after)? |

I have no idea why you have this personal vandetta against me? Unless you're the guy who lost his girlfriend to me. Otherwise, I can only conclude that you're merely here to stir up trouble and to deter forum members away from discussing the Redskins in a clear, concise, and mature manner; as evident by your quoted post. If you feel you must continue such a conversation with me, save everybody the trouble and PM me. Otherwise, back off and stop high-jacking the tread. |
