He does? He seemed ok this past weekend

yes he does, check his numbers over his career, I didn't see any pressure kicks this weekend as well, he woulda missed the game winner if it came down to it.

I don't know if I would go THAT far, but there is no doubt, he is NOT the answer to our kicking woes.

Over his career? He's played in like 4 games hasn't he? And even there his numbers are decent.

Well, here is a link to his numbers:
NFL.com - Shaun Suisham

He's really not that bad by the numbers. But he has never made a 50 yarder, and is 1 of 2 from 40-49, plus he's a former cowpattie. That hurts.
He is 5 of 6 from 0-49 for us this year, which means he's a good fill in. He also has 4 touch backs, something we haven't seen in a while. But let's not get delusional, he is just that, a fill in.

If Suisham hits a good majority of the rest of his kicks, 80% or better let's say, I would hope that would make people happy that we possibly could have a long term solution.

I don't think we've seen enough of him yet to completely write him off. You never know, he could be the next David Akers and I don't think we want to make that mistake again.

That's what I'm afraid of, we don't need false hope from such a pivotal position.

I guess I'd rather not take that chance again. We will likely have a team bound for the playoffs, not a rebuilding team. We don't have the luxury of waiting for a cheap kicker to show up. Why not spend the extra 1 mil for a sure thing?

That's the attitude that so many fans have been pleading against for years now, to stop constantly looking for something better when we have a perfectly capable player right under our nose. It's not completely crazy to think that perhaps Suisham could develop into a quality kicker.

I am only subscribing to that theory for the kicker position. We have had too many years of trying to find a kicker and only the injury prone Hall was our answer. I have no problem having patience in any other area, but not kicker. Kickers don't get good until they have a lot of seasons under their belt (in most cases). It's not like finding a stud wr for 500k a season vs a stud free agent wr for 7 or 8 mil a year. The highest paid kicker is only around 2 mil a season, so we could easily pick up a Brown (for instance) for 1.5-1.8 mil a season, and we would have NO worries. Why not sure up that area for only 1 mil a season?

Also, you are assuming he is perfectly capable. I say it's a 30% chance he can be the capable guy we are looking for. That's a small percentage.

Well you didn't spend 30 mill of your money on Archuleta and another 25 mill on Lloyd Snyder did.... There's your positive (can I add Carter and Randle El to the mix)

I DO like his kickoffs, been a while since we had someone who could get the ball past the ten.

I think we'll all give you Archuletta, but Lloyd has not really had opportunity (Brunell), Carter is doing fine, but he can't do it alone. Randle El also suffered from Brunell, but he's worth it. He's done very well on punt returns, and he's been good on offense.
