Re: Carlos Rogers Article
I'm really not sure how to take this article...I think the negative tone of some of the comments and the article as a whole could easily be the result of the writer wanting them to sound that way, rather than Carlos sounding smug or his teammates sounding critical. His comment about the D-line is a perfect example. No one can deny that they need to perform better, and I think he was trying to say that its not just him...the Defense as a whole needs to step up. Obviously Carlos is having a down season and needs to start catching some of those int's, but I think I'll give him a few more years.
A few more years? A few means 3...no one gets 5 years to make it in the NFL anymore...if he stinks again next year he may get the door or at least a spot on the bench. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
This article merely reinforced what he said after last week's game about R. Brown burning him - "he gave me a double move. nothing I can do about that."
"nothing!" Someone said he's "overconfident." I'd say the opposite, I think this year he's played w/fear & is embarrassed, so he says stupid things after the game. Maybe it scared him to look to the other side & see K. Wright early in the year & think to himself - "wow, I've really got to cover their best guy!" Notice how well he played against Carolina - most of the game Springs matched up on Smith. Why has he played 10 yards off all the wr's all year? He lets guys get off the line & into their route. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
As the OBC used to say, "We gotta coach em up."

Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Yeah, I don't understand why he plays so far off the ball either. Is he supposed to play closer but doesn't? Or does Williams tell him to play that far off?

somebody on here said that it's his choice, but that doesn't sound like something GW would let him decide. It would be 1 thing if he played like that & didn't get beat deep, but he does get beat deep! |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
It sounds like he is young and self absorbed. When he comes back to earth, he will do just fine. Maybe signing Clemons and pushing him to nickle would do the trick.

Re: Carlos Rogers Article
how about a link to an actual article, before you get everyone in a tizzy about how arrogant rogers is? this sounds like something p king would write, opinion over fact

Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Yeah, I had a real problem with this article. While he's right that his season would seem more impressive with 6 ints on his stat line, and while that almost certainly would have translated into a few more wins, the larger problem with is play this season has been coverage, pure and simple. Even with 5 or more picks, he still would be getting burned on a consistent week to week basis. This kid has a long way to go, which is okay, but doesn't seem to recognize the work he still needs to put in, and that has me very very worried.

Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Forgive me for being a moron but why arent we useing vincent as a corner if he used to be one? Is he just old?
This article actually gives me a little hope for CR |

This article actually gives me a little hope for CR
Same reason Buffalo didn't use him as a corner that last few seasons. He's not old, he's mesozoic.... |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Yes, I think that Rogers should be demoted to backup, made into a nickel back, or traded. We wouldn't get a high draft choice for him I wouldn't think.
We will hopefully sign Nate Clements, though I doubt that is any kind of a certainty. Springs is someone we can't rely on in terms of his health, but he is too good to give up on either. So I would start Springs again next year and perhaps make Rogers the backup to Springs. Rogers could get turned around eventually if he listens. But how can he go to defensive meetings and come away with the conclusion that he is having a Pro Bowl year (once you take all the INTs he missed out of the picture)? Isn't there anyone giving him a dose of realism? Is he being coddled by the defensive coaches? It sure sounds likely. |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Letting him go is not an option so it shouldn't even be considered. The whole team including Carlos need to commit to being better. I don't think they worked as hard as they needed to and it started with the easy training camp.
Everyone complains that there is too much turnover, that we need to build through the draft and that the overpaying for free agents needs to stop. So what is their suggestion on Rogers? Sign Nate Clements and trade Rogers. Brilliant... He is 100% correct by pointing out that more pressure up front would make his job easier. Next year will be different! |
Re: Carlos Rogers Article
Am I the only one who thought Rogers sounded like an idiot in that article? His comments were borderline incoherent.
