Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
He got those nine yards by breaking a tackle at the line and about five yards past scrimage and with his effort he got 9 yards with no blocking help. I'm not sure what the problem is with BL but his effort on that play was a question.
A few things I noticed at the game and watching it afterward:

[...]
On the other hand, when Rogers got his pick, the cameras showed Lloyd cheering him with other players. He doesn't seem to be a paraih with his teammates.

Actually, if you read Lloyd's lips when he and Moss are celebrating the Rogers pick-six he says "he caught it, he caught it" sarcastically (9:50 mark in BJS highlights). Not sure if that makes him the pot or the kettle, but funny either way.
I agree we should try harder to get Lloyd the ball, if for no other reason than trying to get a better return on our investment. I want to see what happens when he's thrown to five or more times in a game. |
Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
I heard the Junkies interview and he was basically singing the company line. Either he wants to make nice in Washington, or he's trying to put on a good face for other teams when they cut him loose next season.
I think the Lloyd situation is similar to the Arrington situation, in that he's obviously more talented than the guys in front of him, but his attitude has him in the doghouse. I was one of the few that was very vocal in defense of Arrington, but I don't have the same feelings for B. Lloyd. IMO, you could at least see that Lavar was giving it his all when he was on the field. Lloyd on the other hand, gives little effort. During the Junkies interview, he actually admitted to loafing after the jump ball pick in the Dolphins game... That's bullshit. Talented or not, I'd leave his ass on the bench with that kind of attitude.
I knew the fucker put up a half-assed effort for that pass. If he didn't want to fight for the catch the least he could have done is fight like hell to keep his qb from an int. I wish we could trade Lloyd now, but it's gonna suck no matter what cause his trade value is in the toilet. |
I think they just need to put his ass in the game and throw him the damn ball. He can't do anything is he's not in the game.
Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
A nice, tidy post. I agree that Lloyd dove before they could hit him. He should have gained the first down on that one. But, that's how he rolls. He hates contact. McCardell fits in much better with his zone-beating prowess over the middle. I could see Keenan catching 30 to 35 balls the rest of the way.
Brandon will leave in the offseason, but I don't think the Redskins should be closed-minded about him. He has certain athletic qualities that make him unique and he may be of some usefullness at some point this year. Also, if injuries persist, they may not have a choice. I think that's what happened Sunday. I don't think he was going to play until Randle-El was hurt. He then had to go in on certain pakages because he's the only one left.
I don't often see a quote and then a reaction to that quote both so wrong. Lloyd made a nifty initial move to get free of the first tackler and then picked up the maximum likely yards after that in a strong attempt to get a first down. He was no more trying to avoid contact on that play than he was dogging the effort to make the catch on that infamous interception. He says he dogged it after the interception. Politics. My video says he had no real chance of making the tackle after the intercept and chased the play anyway. |
Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
We all cheered at the bar too...1 catch can be the start of good things for him and the Skins but I'm highly skeptical.

Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
I think the "cheering" was more like the combined sarcasm of 90 thousand plus. I know it was at my house. Not so much way to go as "Congratulations, you finally caught a pass this year... and it's week 5."

That was some of it - the other part was when you are up two scores and your fifth receiver gets into it, there's a wave of confidence that flows over you. You think "if this guy's rolling over you, you ain't comin' back, Lions." |
Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
I think that's it exactly.
Regarding the crowd reaction, I thought the crowd reacted in almost a surprised kind of way to his catch. 1 catch, 9 yards, and here we are talking about this bum yet again. I don't get it.
He's on the team and I'd like to stay positive. It was a nice play on 2nd and 10 that helped us get a 1st down. |

9 yards on 2nd and 10 helps to get a first down. Is it his fault on 3rd? WISE GUYS!!!!! |

Throwing the ball to Loyd just because we paid him a lot doesn't help the team. Recievers have to work to know their plays & routes, and then work to get open. As we saw in the Mia. game, throwing him the ball can have serious consequences. |
Re: Another Brandon Lloyd Thread
Freddy just made the best point in the thread. Just because we gave him money doesen't mean he is going to preform for us. He caught one ball and had a 2nd effort and picked up more yards. If the coaches think he should play then he should play, if not then keep him on the bench. Don't fix it if it ain't broke and right now I believe our record is 3-1.
