Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
how can you not ask? Its not like we are asking for an extra few days cause the entire team went binge drinking and are hungover. Our best player was murdered, the entire team is flying down to pay respects and that leaves us ONE normal practice day to prepare for a NFL game with major playoof implications
Squeaky wheel get the . . . . . never mind |
A couple of people that I know were at the game told me they heard players getting booed as the game was ending/over. "You suck Campbell" "F You Laron" Things of that nature
Embarrasing. Hope they get their ticket rights revoked if identified. |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
Don't lump everyone at the stadium as ignorant during the moment of silence. I wasn't there, but it sounded on TV as if a single voice shouted "we love you Sean" and there was a brief cheer. It certainly didn't sound like the entire stadium ignored the request for silence.
In this day and age of big money football it is hard for the true fan to be there. The cost big time to take a family to a baseball game much less a NFL game. It's just not in the cards for most. That being said i think you now get a lot of uninformed people that just wanted to be seen or be at big time events. Sorry but that is the way it is with scalpers and corporations buying up most the tickets. These for the most part are not true fans. |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
In my book they are now tied with Eagles fans as worst in all of sports.
Ouch!!!!we all know philly fans are the worst..i.e. cheering a broken neck micheal irvin..but that is flat out wrong...i hate to say it but you guys are right about Gibbs..as long as he's there we have nothing.he miss uses timeouts..not aggressive when needed such as the 4th and 1 vs the cowboys when we have momentum..and going for it on forth down instead of the field goal vs tampa bay..even a 10 year old playing madden can manage a game better..Gibbs aint the way he used to be..he's too care free..and we need intensity..vote Cowher for 08' |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
i didnt watch or listen to any post game yesterday, so i am finding out for the first time that gibbs said he didnt know about the missing man tribute. this disgusts me. we must transition to a gregg williams head coached team now, in hopes of a great season next year. i think gibbs handled the press, fans and team great this week, something he can continue to do as redskins president for the remainder of his contract, a title that he currently has.
Yeah, we weren'y there either but my wife said she heard the exact same thing on TV. Hopefully the majority displayed respect during the moment of silence.
And you know what's sad? The COWBOYS moment of silence was ABSOLUTELY quiet. Not a single person in that stadium spoke. |

 Where the hell is this organization and city heading... |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
alot of fans by my count showed alot of disrespect from what i heard..
i,m begining to wonder myself where this organization is headed now... joe gibbs ..i love ya man but what were ya thinking there at the end... and thanks again to the prevent defense it came through again in the clutch.. for the skins in general you had a hard week and i comend you all for toughing it out .. |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
I missed the moment of silence that game but i can't believe that the washington fans were being derespectful. To be booing the players after going out and giving it there all is completely wrong especially after such a tough week. I did watch the Green Bay-Dallas game and i was actually surprised on how quiet it was, i'm glad the fans in Texas Stadium showed the respect they did because Sean Taylor deserves it....

Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
Also to mention about the game being moved. I seen the question asked to Lovie Smith and he said that the bears would have no problem with that. To me that shows class and that the Skins want to go ahead and play the game.

Ok, what your saying is all in hindsight and could have gone either way which makes these points irrelevent. He didnt go for it on 4th and 1 against the cowboys but if he failed he would be taking even more heat. Did we not have momentum in tampa bay, they had something like 30 total yards in the 2nd half. He took a gamble that you say he should have taken in one position and not in another? Contradict yourself more when making points thats the way to go. With these fans hes damned if he does or damned if he dont. On that note Gibbs as made a few mistakes but there is nothing he can do about the players playing bad or being injured maybe Im making excuses for him and I was just as angry with the double time out last night but if he did ask the official and the official said he could do it.....<-that right there is the only thing that I can hold gibbs accountable for, stupid and unexcusable but he was probably under a bit of stress |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
As I have said before, the "cheering" that occured during the moment of silence was directly attributed to a guy yelling, "we love you sean!". I do not think those that cheered meant any disrespect, they simply burst out (briefly) at the cry of what most were thinking. That is just my take, and I was there, for what its worth.
As for booing the players, maybe it happened (to a small degree) but iit certainly did not happen on a widespread basis- don't judge the whole based on the actions of a few. While I disagree with booing, I do believe its each individual fans right- these are proffessional athletes and coaches- we pay their outrageous salaries. I realize and agree that it may have not been the time or the place, but these people invest their time, money, and emotions into the redskins, and I can identify with their urge to react, however untimely. |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
I forgot to mention that I do not believe that fans were booing the players...I think it was all directed at coach gibbs...
In the end people are sick and tired of seeing the skins try to sit on leads at the end of the game, only to lose....the timeout debacle was simply the last straw for them, manifesting itself in boos. This is not in defense of, but rather an explaination why (from my point of view). |
Re: 2 things that are really bothering me
People I spoke to said they definitely saw and heard players getting cursed at and booed.

I didn't really chalk it up as classless or anything like that. I do think it was just bad tact or decorum, but I didn't really frown upon it. |
