Re: PFT: Predict Skins To Take Trent Williams
People think that Williams can't play LT because he struggled in his first game last year and Bradford got hurt. But if you watch Williams' progress throughout the season you'll see that he improved at LT (plus he's played at RT and some C) so he's very versatile and extremely athletic. Okung, not so much.
What you get out of Okung now could be pretty much what you'll get for the next decade. And that's not a bad thing. But when you see Williams you could be getting a guy who maybe "struggles" a bit early, but then totally takes off...or totally collapses. I can see the Redskins taking Okung at #4. But I've gotten no sense that they really value him that high. But without a 2nd round pick right now (and until the Brown trade becomes official...or not), they may have no choice but to value Okung that high
SS, I am interested in this (until the Brown trade becomes official... or not) comment. I haven't heard a lot about it. Can you fill me (us) in a bit? |

Rumors have been circulating since February that the Saints were looking to trade Brown or Bushrod (preferably Brown). Saints (Williams in particular) was known to want Landry and/or Rocky. We weren't offering Landry because we were holding onto him as a possible chip for something bigger (i.e. Brandon Marshall). As we're getting closer, talks for Brown have really picked up. Brown reportedly met with representatives of the Redskins this past weekend (now I know he's met with Dr. James Andrews but I don't think that's who it is). So, long story short, is latest I've heard is Rocky and a pick in 2011 for Brown. If we throw in someone else we might get a 2010 pick in return but not likely. There are a few teams interested in Brown so we'll just have to wait and see on him. But we're definitely very, very much in the running. I've also heard, kind of a side note, that we might be looking at him as a RT. Can't confirm though |
First of all nothing is written in stone. Are we taking Trent Williams before or after we take Okung and before or after we take Sam Bradford or is it right after we take Jimmy Clausen or Eric Berry.
My Gawd it seems like the Skins are predicted to take every player in the draft, so why are you guys even bothering to get flustered over the Skins drafting a name on a piece of paper. Hasn't happened yet. Cry and raise your blood pressure AFTER the pick has been taken.
Yeah I don't even talk about upcoming games, just wait till after it's over, who knows the freaking outcome beforehand? |
According to PFT, the top 5 is coming into focus and the Skins will take Trent Williams (OT).

Re: PFT: Predict Skins To Take Trent Williams
I have spent far too much of my time going through players and picks, analyzing and over-analyzing, evaluating and over-evaluating prospects. Very interested in the draft this year, and super pumped about the season ahead. Also because it keeps me occupied, home, and out of trouble.
In my mind, there is no way the Skins are taking Williams over Okung. If Okung is gone to Detroit, then I think they would pick whichever DT is left or Berry. |

I don't see that move happening though. |

that would be pretty solid. i would be happy with that trade. |
Re: PFT: Predict Skins To Take Trent Williams
The question is, who do we take if we trade down?

Williams looks mighty good on paper and seems to have upside. I'd rather take Suh over McCoy but, only if there's a trade for Haynesworth. Berry is a solid pick. |
