Shanahan is not going to let "fat Albert" have it his way which is releasing him, this way fat Albert wins. Shanahan will keep him on the roster and will handle it a different way, maybe come up with an injury and put him on IR. He will not be released, you think Shanahan wants him to catch on to a playoff bound team?
I would like to see him "keyshawned".
Oh it's certainly good for the culture of the team, but to get nothing for him after supposedly being offered a 4th rounder a month or so ago is bad on Shanahan's part. We're hurting for draft picks as it is.

But hey, for all intents and purposes we already flushed $30M+ down the toilet with this guy. What's another draft pick?
Shanahan completely mishandled this from the beginning of the season. If the guy was such a malcontent, you can either:

A) Accept whatever you can get in a trade, or if you aren't offered the value you desire,

B) Play the guy to build more acceptable trade value.

The first mistake was Snyderato giving the fat turd $30M+ in the first 15 months, but not accepting a 4th rounder, then deactivating Haynesworth in a third of the games is just plain stupid. In hindsight, cutting him for nothing on Sept 1st would have been far more productive than cutting him now.

Chris Russell always spurns up some cockamany story that has no truthful backing to it. Fat Al is not going to be cut this far in to a season. They will wait till the offseason and try to get something for him. Shanahan tried to make it work, but Fat Al is a premadona and it was never going to work out for both sides.

The sad thing is, mcnabb has played so poorly he probably has as much trade value as haynesworth does at this point (i.e. None)

Schefter is disputing the reports via twit, which I cannot link to from work.

Said MS would not do AH the favor of releasing him and that it won't happen this season.

Releasing Albert Haynesworth won't solve this teams problems, and honestly at this point this mess is solely Shanahan's fault for keeping this drama going so long. Personally, I hope he gets released, because I'm tired of him and this situation. I know Tony Kornheiser rarely talks sports, but I happened to be listening to his show today and he said it best....either play the guy or get rid of him, plain and simple.

Personally, I don't buy the whole "he's trying to change the culture of the team"; to me this was a big fight between MS' ego and AH's stubbornness (to quote TK). If Mike Shanahan wants to change the culture of this team, he needs to find a way to motivate players, get rid of worthless players, and win some f*cking games. Making an example of Albert Haynesworth in front of the national media has done nothing for this team.

Sources: Albert Haynesworth won't be released
By Jason Reid

Despite ongoing media speculation that defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth may be released soon, the Redskins do not plan to cut him, two people familiar with the situation said Monday.

Haynesworth has again stirred frustration in the organization because of what coaches consider a lack of effort in practice last week and by being late to a defensive meeting, according to people familiar with the situation. But the Redskins are not on the verge of releasing the two-time all-pro player, who earned $32 million in the first 14 months of his contract. By the end of the season, Haynesworth will have been paid $36.5 million for two seasons with the Redskins.

Haynesworth, who has a salary of $3.6 million this season, has been inactive for four games. He has not started a game and has been credited with 13 unassisted tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Let's clarifty 'changing the culture' for a minute. In essence it simply means letting players know who is in charge & holding them all to the same standards as much as possible. Basically it's just MS enforcing rules & creating some discipline. If AH has been insubordinate, what should MS do? Allow him to fail his training test, play whatever position he wants, skip or be late for meetings, miss practices?

I won't disagree that MS has a big ego & is stubborn, but that's part of why he's running an NFL team. In this case I'm not feeling it that this whole thing came about simply because of Shan.

His stubornest his the problem. We were a team with a top 10 defense an detroyed it by wanting to change it to a 3/4 even though we did not have the personnel for it. Alienating your players by calling them out in public forums(McNabb, Haynesworth)

thats AH problem imo. he doesnt like the remainder of his contract. the DS and Vinny really screwed the pooch on this "lets get creative and take advantage of the no-cap year" thinking.

personally, id let him sit inactive for the next 2 seasons. no OTAs, preseason, etc. make that skins contract he signed and had no intention of honoring, his last contract. after 2 years of him sitting on his ass at home i doubt there would be much interest. might as well, he will be making pennies for the next few years since he already received the overloaded portion of his contract.

or AH could always opt out of the contract and pay back 17mil after this season if he truly wants to go to a 4-3 team and this isnt about the money he is set to make in the next few years. if he opts out he would have made about 18 mill for 2 seasons, thats fair compensation, then he is free to go and try and blackmail some other team.

of course, thats if his hissy fits are really about the 3-4 and not the fact that he thought he could get paid 32 mil for 14 months then force his way out of town and into a new contract.

On the post game show on espn 980, Chris russell said the nature of haynesworth's sickness was the primary reason it was such an issue. He said he didn't have confirmation so he didn't want to say it then, but to expect to hear more soon. Based on other reports I've heard before, my impression was that haynesworths repeated stomach problems seem alot like hangover symptoms to me. I really wish we could suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team and keep him away from the facility.

I would like a new defensive coordinator to decide if we want to keep him or not.

It's not the first time his illness has allegedly been the result of being less than responsible

I think I alluded to it this past summer
