Re: Week Two: I'm looking forward to...

I want to amend my current statement. One thing I'd love to see is Clinton Portis on the bench a lot more. The reasoning for this is two fold. First, we can't kill this guy early again. If we want to win the more difficult games and if we get into the playoffs, we need Portis at full strength. Secondly, we need to prove we can play offense without him. Sometimes I feel like we push the ball to him a bit too much.

Im not saying dont play him at all, but if we're up, limit his touches greatly.

I agree with you, but in reverse...that is, I say limit his touches and emphasize the pass more. Then, when we've got a 4th quarter lead, give Portis the rock and let him burn the clock and finish off the opposition.

Lotus, why beat up Portis? Let Betts/Mason/Rock/Whoever take the punishment if we have a lead. I want Portis there when we need him.

Moot point either way, if the skins get up by more than a TD they find a way to keep it close.

I'm still having difficulty moving on since I half expected the Skins to win by atleast 10 points to an inferior team lacking talent and weapons.

but...I'll keep it short since my last was so long. .....Ditto.

I skipped reading the entire thread....
Im looking forward to sitting in the 5th row for the season section 139.
Im also looking for an explosion of offense and tackling by the defense. Oh and please dial up a pass rush before Trevor Matich gets yelled at again. (I think he blows personally)

Lets see:

2 TE sets
Kelly/Thomas/Mitchell involved
Better game plan
Better adjusting
A nice high score above 21 points
JC having a good game
Maybe a little Mason if he's not deactivated.

1. Get a victory
2. We need to prove that our offense can score over 21 points.
3. The Defense to shut out the Rams and force several turnovers, and take a fumble or pick to the house.
4. 3 or more sacks on Bulger.
5. Defense get of the field on 3rd downs.
6. Portis a 100yd game along with JC throwing for 300yds.
7.Kelly,Thomas,Davis,Mitchell all contribute on offense.
8. Orakpo get his 1st sack.
9.Portis exits game healthy early 4th qt. due to big lead.
10. Offense don't give up a turnover that leads to a defensive TD.
11. Fans at FedEx get behind the Coach and QB.
12. No Injuries.
13.Cowboys N Eagles lose.

When was the last time we blew anyone out? I'm expecting a close game.

Unfortunatly you are talking reality. I am talking figuritively about what we would like to see happen in order for us to feel comfortable that they are not another 8-8 or worse team. If this was last yr or previous yrs I would say the Giants are awsome and we went toe to toe with them and came out with a close score. I would be happy even with the loss. This yr is totally different. They lost some major pieces to their puzzle that should have knocked them down a peg or two perhaps even to a middle of the road team. Our loss this yr has left me wondering what the Skins are, are they the same mediocre team as last yr that can't score more then 21 points, fails to game plan, uses only 10-15 plays all game, doesn't spread the ball around, and has QB issues?

or were we a team that has stepped up this yr and went toe to toe with a team that was not as bad off as people assumed they were? The problem is we probably won't know for sure until several games into the season. If we come out as you say and play a close game, as we usually do, then what does that tell us and would it comfort anyone? Again, I feel the only way any of us are going to feel comfortable is for the Skins to come out and have an extremely good showing. It would show:

1) Were not a bottom feeder.
2) JC can get it done.
3) We do have decent WR's.
4) Our run game is not suspect.
5) We can put up more then 17 points.

If we are a mediocre team, then I think it's time to rebuild. Why? cause we have changed HC's a few times, changed systems a few times, and added players countless times and nothing has changed. Something has to give.

Re: Week Two: I'm looking forward to...

I just want to see some signs of this team playing as a football team. Playing with some fire. Everybody in rhythm. First and foremost I for one think that the offensive line really held its own against the giants last week. I know we struggled in the run game but all in all our pass blocking was pretty good. I want to see consistency there as well as stronger run game. It all starts upfront and I think if we can give Campbell time and have a more aggressive approach I think we can put up some points. On defense I just want to see pressure. If we can pressure we can get turnovers. I just want to see some heart out of all 53 players that suit up on sunday. I want this team to get the snowball rolling. Lets go Skins!!!

You know that scene in The Bourne Identity when Jason walks through the U.S. Embassy?

That's what I'd like our Offense to look like.

And the D?

Something along the lines of 300 defending the pass at Thermopylae

Special Teams?

Like The lobby scene from The Matrix but turn the techno UP!

Didn't we beat the Lions 30something to 3 last year?

34-3 if I remember correctly. :)

Wasn't that the game where Moss took a punt to the house?

I know a win is a win but to really meet my expectations of this offense and defense I would like us win decisively. I think with the talent on this team we should win 30-10. We need to for the psche of this team (as well as its fans)
