Re: Offseason predictions
I think I'd cut Heyer also. He was a nice feel good story but he has not lived up to his supposed talent. Unless they can prove he's a better at Guard I see no reason keeping him. I like your other cuts though but would also add Portis. Unless his contract is going to hurt us I cut him. I know about his value that everyone keep drilling about but it's only pass blocking. In MS's system anyone can run and look good. Plus Portis has not finished out a full season in the last few seasons. Groin or hamstring flip a coin that will be next yrs injury. Moss as well.
I don't think there was any hype at all for the undrafted free agent Stephon Heyer |
Re: Offseason predictions
I believe Carter is gone. They tried to do an already failed near-experiment with him, and it failed.
Rocky - given Mike's inability to accepting rebuild, I think there's a chance he stays...at the right price. Rabach - I damn hope they saw how much better Monty was than him and Lich couldn't be much worse than him at center. Also, we need space for a TRUE GUARD, not 2 converted centers at G and yet another center. Golston - gone, I hope. He can't emulate Ngata. They deserve the label "incompetent" if they still keep him and still run the 3-4. |
I predict there will be alot of comings and goings in the offseason. I'm really stepping out on a limb on this one.
I think we are in a bit of a rebuilding phase and the coaches know it. They're smart, they know. It was a busy offseason last year and will be again this year. We've got more holes than draft picks. So we may see some FA's this year too. I don't know about McNabb. I was guessing yes, then now maybe no. Portis is gone, if i had to guess. Hopefully we'll focus on: Center, Nose Tackle, Guard, RB, WR, damn that's alot. Maybe CB too.
A bit of rebuilding? More than a bit bud. Our o line sucks, and our backups blow to boot. WR corp with AA is a step in the right direction, but we need another WR threat or two. Santana is getting up there. We need to get a couple LBs also if we keep this 3-4 setup. |
Re: Offseason predictions
Woah! Wait why do people want to cut Carriker? I mean I don't watch him on an every down basis, but, with his size and skill set, I think he's one of the few pieces that fits the 3-4 on our team. I'm pretty sure its Gholston and Kemoeatu that suck.
And Buchanon as well as Holliday are good enough to stay IMO. What do you all think of Lorenzo Alexander as our OLB opposite Orakpo. |

Re: Offseason predictions
For a team that has shown little improvement, it's safe to say changes are definitely on the horizon. Specifics of those changes are difficult to determine at this time because so many variables can take place before the beginning of a new season. A good time to begin the discussion would be the end of February. Progress has to be made on a new CBA in order to have a clearer view of how every team will proceed towards the future.

Re: Offseason predictions
For depth, I would keep Heyer too. He's shown a lot of improvement and is versatile. For some reason though people just have it out for him no matter what he does. I often wonder if people even watch what he's doing.

Re: Offseason predictions
We need to re-sign the great Rich Bartel. With him at the helm we would be 11-1 at worst.

Bad news, Cardinals signed him today |

Obviously the Cards will win the Super Bowl next year.

That's only because when he makes mistakes they become so glaringly obvious that it's hard to ignore. At least 2 of the sacks on McNabb came when Heyer was manning the left side, and those sacks came because he's simply not good enough. He got beat off the snap and whoever had those sacks (Not sure whether it was Tuck, Pierre-Paul, or Umenyiora) just overwhelmed him. I would love Heyer, but his mistakes always come at crucial moments, and that's why fans have a problem with him. He's still good for depth though, I just don't want to see him consistently on the field, and he should never have to face an upper tier pass rusher without some tight end help imo. |

Guys, thanks for the feedback and the participation, I'd like to continue to encourage all of you to sign the petition on NFLLockout.com if you haven't.
Like Ruhskins said on page 1 of this thread, before we even talk about plans for next season, we should make sure there will be a next season. I hope the hardcore fans will do anything and everything they can to make sure there's a season. |
Re: Offseason predictions
I predict Jamaal Charles won't be a Redskin any time soon.

Re: Offseason predictions
It is simple. We will have yet another offseason where they try to have their cake and eat it too. We will once again win the prettiest paper team in the offseason, and we will be the most generous and willing elves for Eagles' Claus. DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Antonio Dixon, Nate Allen. This time, we're giving them a CB or LB.
