Re: Idiots at the Skins vs. Vikings Game
yeah stadium security at Fed Ex is lazy. i was in teh upper section a few years ago, 2 skins fans are wailing on each other at the entrance to a bathroom for a good minute. a lady goes up to 2 people, 1 was a security guard another a female usher of sorts, she says there are 2 guys fighting in the bathroom, which was literally 10 feet away from were these 2 employees are. the guy smiles and joking laughs with the lady usher saying "shit i aint doing nothing".
then there are times were i have been caught on video surveillance in the lower row and i get a letter in the mail saying how i was caught on video and this is a warning. so idk, i get busted on video in the lower section for dumping beer on opposing fans but its a free for all in the uppers. hoestly, what do you expect the 22 year old temporary security guard from PG county who makes $8.50 an hour on 8 sundays a year to do?
Stadium security is limited to some extent in just how far they can go with intervention measures. They do however, work closely with the PG County authorities, but the response to incidents are not always swift. Some of the security personnel don't even have communication devices. |

but the rowdy violent nature that some drunk male fans display is a product of the NFL marketing imo.
I'm glad you have mellowed out and matured. :food-smil Although I'm just not sure I buy into the whole bit about the NFL marketing. I think we as adults should understand personal responsibility first and foremost. We're not mindless cavemen. I understand that the products mostly advertised during football games are automobiles, food, and beer. Those are three of us men's favorite things, lol! But, as a man, I never once felt that because the NFL markets their sport as a dangerous, collision sport, that I would have to conduct myself in the same manner in the stands or anywhere else I happen to be watching the game at. I hope I'm not in the minority here. If so, God help us! |

Probably 95% of the folks at the game create a family atmosphere it is the 5% that ruin it for the rest. I don't go because I don't want to deal with the 5%. IMO if the stadiums up the security and too ka hard stand on fighting and drinking the 5% would easily dwindle to manageable 1%.
My experience at games say about 95% of those is attendance are cavemen and like you since I dont want to deal with them I dont go. The last thing they want to do is cut back on the cash cow that is beer sales. These teams have built up the idiotic notion that the fans are the 12th man and part of the team and the fans actually take that stuff seriously. Why would anyone be surprised that the 12th man, fueled by booze, gets jacked up and violent? |

going to a game is so much better, funner and more enjoyable when you realize the opposing fans are people that just so happen to wear a different color on sunday.
ive come along way, still have a ways to go thoo, it is something i am proud of to the extent that looking back just a few years ago on my behavior it makes me down right embarrassed. it feels good thoo, i mean real good. unfortunately when guys like me grow up and start acting our age there is just another dumber, drunker version of me waiting to take my place. |

We as adults should exercise personal responsibility. But, those who do, usually don't go to the games. I have a sneaky suspicion my girlfriend might be getting me Redskins tickets for the Giants game the day after New Year's. If so it will be my first Redskins game ever live! But, if so, I'm kind of apprehensive in going if what I've seen in these you tube videos is what I am going to have to deal with. |
Well if you are at FedEx the amount of Redskins fans to opposing team fans ratio lends this to be true. If you are drunk and want to fight most likely the closet folks to you are skins fans.
It is the same at all stadiums. Re: Idiots at the Skins vs. Vikings Game
I have to agree that minor league baseball is fun. It's cheap and they do a good job at keeping it family oriented. Beers are $5 where I go, and it's a local brewery too.

Re: Idiots at the Skins vs. Vikings Game
I'm coming back from three years in Japan this week, and I'm taking my whole family to the Bucs game. This is my first game at Fed Ex, and this is the type of crap I'm worried about. I plan on drinking, and my wife plans on wearing her Dolphins gear (I know right?). We'll see what happens, but those looked like two big dudes.....have to push em down the steps:)

Agreed. My son loves games...he's gone to a few already. Even at age 2, he'd sit and watch all 9 innings. His favorite part is hit batters...and there are plenty at the low-level independent team games in our town. :food-smil I'm also very apprehensive to take my family to an NFL game. Beer in large quantities usually ruins family events, whether it's a football game or a wedding reception. :cheeky-sm |

Don't take too much from this thread. I have been to 15 or 20 games and have never seen any fights around us. Only once did we have a guy trying to cause problems but after he was ignored he shut up. Take your family and enjoy the game and welcome home. |

Nothing wrong with getting ripped before the game as long as you don't have to ack like an ass. Its just a small % that gets drunk and want to fight. |

Why, $100's of dollars worth of tickets and yet you have no idea whats going on. I guess thats not the worse idea as a Redskin fan to forget about the actual games but whats the point of having the biggest stadium in the NFL if it means all we're doing is increasing the odds of admitting inbred idiots to home games? People need to go to watch the actual games, you want to get wasted go to a college bar and creep out the local co-eds. Don't do it during a football game with kids around. Have one or two beers, get a buzz going and enjoy the damn game. Of course maybe if some of you idiots weren't ****ing alcoholics then one or two beers would be all you'd need. *end rant* **Rant directed at drunk morons in video** |

Re: Idiots at the Skins vs. Vikings Game
I'm pretty tired of these idiots giving Skins fans a bad name. I don't understand why you need to get drunk when you go to a football game. You can get drunk at your house, a bar, etc. and it will be cheaper, and you can still watch the game. Football games should be a family atmosphere, but alcohol has ruined it. NFL officials can come out and say, look, we limit guys to 3 or 4 beers (w/e the limit is) and then we cut them off, but we all know it doesn't happen, or they find ways around the rules (like hey, more sober friend of mine, go buy me some more beers) , but I do believe the NFL should ban alcohol sales at games. Now we know that will never happen because beer is a cash cow for the NFL, but that's the way it should be.
I'm envious that college games are a more pleasant environment than an NFL game, and they have everything the NFL has with rivalries, same playing field/slightly different rules, and they never have a problem with this because no beer is sold at all. Even after idiots like that NY guy drive home drunk from the game and kill innocent people, they still don't do enough to stop it. What's to stop a wasted ass DTC member from hopping in his massive suv and hitting a Skins fan walking across a crosswalk? Nothing. Not when you have stadium personnel that could give less than a shit about a drunk guy, or cops that stand around but don't bother looking for potential DUI offenders waiting to happen, because it's like finding a needle in the haystack. |

Amen to this! If you really want to go to an NFL game and see it in some degree of comfort without the intrusion of drunken bozos, save up your money and buy yourself a seat or two in the club section(s) where there are plenty of amenities, cover from the elements and access to hi-def TVs for inspection of replays. If you want to see an NFL game live "on a budget", you will have to put up with whomever happens to sit within 15 yards of you and with however much booze he/she consumed in the four-hour tailgating party prior to kickoff. I did that too many times. Now I prefer fewer games in the "box seats"... |
