Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Speaking of drafting, I did that email bruce allen thing on the Redskins page, and asked him about what he thinks about next years draft, and he basically said expect us to get a QB with the amount of good ones that are coming out next year...

Given that QB is arguably the weakest position on our roster, I would be stunned if we didn't go hard after QB talent. |

I have to take back my previous statement. Robert Griffen has first round talent. I just watched his game against tcu. This kid is excellent passer with great mobility. The only thing that concerns me is his size. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xURPOglz7hQ&feature=related]Robert Griffin III vs TCU 2011 - YouTube[/ame] |

Thanks for the vid! Although he has a bit of a windup, he throws a sweet ball. Good legs. And, while he's not prototypical size, he's bigger than Kellen Moore. And he has commentators who speak ?Russian? |

Overall, I think RG3 is an excellent football player and with good coach he could be a very good qb. However, I still believe that Luck, Barkley, Jones, and Foles are franchise qbs. One thing i love about this draft is that we have a lot of options without having to trade away future picks to get a talented qb. The last few years it's only been one guy worth drafting in the first round. In this draft I see 5 or possible 6 guys that have first round talent. |

I don't see any reason why we wouldn't go after one of these studs at qb. If we end up in the top 15 we should be able to get one of the top 4 qbs. I'm going to start a thread about next years qb class. I honestly think this is the best qb class I have ever seen. |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
I gotta say, if we don't draft a QB in the first round, I would definitely be happy with Vontaze Burfict, Alshon Jeffery, David Decastro the G from Stanford, Manti Te'o, Jayron Hosely CB VT, Dre Kirkpatrick, or Janoris Jenkins the former Florida CB.
All these guys look like future All-pros. |

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Everyone is talking about drafting a qb. and yes we obviously desperately need a qb. But what about other positions rb,oline,cb? There are many quality players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds since we will most likely go qb in the first. I think we need a running back very bad. Im tired of our rbs who are nothing special and its a highlight if they break a 10 yard run we need some explosiveness. Any prospects at rb or wr that could be in our reach?

I think our "nothing special" RBs have been affected by a pass-first minded OC, mediocre run-blocking offensive line, and having to play catch up in a couple of games. We definitely need to draft (or acquire through FA) quality depth for the o-line and definitely look at a quality FS (since Atogwe has been hampered by injuries). |

Lol, nope. Sorry, it's a disease thats spreading rampant right now. The art of taking a player or team in college football that's having success outside the SEC and saying something like "Oh well, if they done played in the SEC blah blah blah." I have to deal with these hypothetical 'if' statements on a daily basis. Now I really want to see Boise State or Stanford play LSU or Alabama in the National Championship game, even though the set up is a crock. And it goes without saying but just in case, 'the shame on you' and the "are you fing kidding me" stuff was directed at Ricky Jean not you. |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
I was curious to see what the breakdown of QBs by conference in the NFL right now, so since I really don't feel like doing work right now, here it is. I included the starters, starters on IR (Manning, Henne), benched starters (Rexy, McNabb) and first-round QBs.
ACC QBs: M. Ryan M. Schaub P. Rivers C. Whitehurst C. Ponder Big 10 QBs: C. Painter C. Henne T. Brady D. Brees Big 12 QBs: C. McCoy B. Gabbert S. Bradford J. Freeman Big East QBs: M. Vick M. Hasselbeck D. McNabb CAA QBs: J. Flacco C-USA QBs: K. Kolb D. Garrard Ivy League QBs: R. Fitzpatrick MAC QBs: Big Ben Mountain West Conf QBs A. Dalton J. Beck Ohio Valley Conf QBs:T. Romo Pac-10/12 QBs A. Rodgers M. Cassel M. Moore M. Sanchez C. Palmer A. Smith J. Locker SEC QBs: C. Newton J. Cutler T. Tebow M. Stafford P. Manning E. Manning J. Campbell R. Grossman SWAC QBs: T. Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Could add Vick to the ACC if you want to look at it that way, though he played in the big east at the time. Pretty good list though Ruhskins, by no means is the SEC a QB conference.

Exactly, you really can't lose picking one of those guys. I would be tempted to pick up Dan Persa in the 3rd round also. The guy is still completing 75% of his passes like last season before his achilles blew out, but our need for CBs probably will trump us drafting 2 Qbs. Not saying Persa will start, but he would be a good backup if Shanny decides to go with 3 Qbs. |

How bout taking a look at Case Keenum from Houston. Has a 69% Completion Percentage over the course of his entire college career. Not to mention that he has thrown for more TDs tonight then our team has all season up to this point. |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Add to the list, Jacory Harris of Miami. I think he'll be a Heisman candidate this season as a senior. He's already 3rd in Hurricane history in yards and second in TD passes...and missed a quarter of his junior year due to a concussion. Kid can run well too.
He'll need to bulk up for the NFL at 6'4" and 195 pounds, but he has talent. He's been progressing and improving every year after looking unpolished early on. I predict 3500 yards and 25 TDs in 2011 for him. In his sophomore season, he passed for 3300+ and 24 TDs, so it's nothing he has not done before.
Jacory Harris was benched for a time if I am not mistaken. I saw him twice at the beginning of the year. He doesn't have a solid head on his shoulders. Made very bad decisions against Ohio St and a couple other opponents. He also cost Miami the Ohio St game last year. Sorry, but if you have such a deep talent pool of QBs coming out in 2012, Harris would be on the bottom of the list. Barkely, Foles, Keenum, Moore, Luck, Jones, Tannehill, etc are all coming out. I would even want Persa from NU being my starter than Harris. Persa's TD/INT ratio is damn good, nice release, and has completed 75% of his passes a 2 year starter. He isn't starting material in the NFL, but I would pick him over Jacory Harris. |

Discounting any players based on college conference play is an EPIC fail. I was listening to sports radio in the past year and they were talking this subject and they took the prowbowl roster over the last like 3, 5 years and the leading conference was the ACC. I completely understand your frustration. But I think it's misplaced just a little. Our biggest problem is that our oline isn't playing good enough to allow of rbs to show their explosiveness. |

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
So what would the thoughts be on signing Matt Flynn and then drafting someone like Justin Blackmon? I'm not saying that that's what I want us to do, I'm just saying that it's an option.
I'd be ecstatic with Barkley, Jones or RGIII to be honest, but I really think Flynn could be a good qb especially if we added Blackmon and if Hankerson could build upon what might have been his breakout game if not for his hip injury. If we do draft a qb, my preference would be Barkley, Jones and then Griffin. |

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Vontaze Burfict is expected to declare for the draft. A lot of scouts now have mid-round grades on him and really question the way he plays (out of control and feisty). If he's there in the 2nd round, the Skins have to got to pick him. He is a game changer, Ray Lewis clone, and is the kind of beef and muscle that the skins defense needs. He's like Sean Taylor at LB.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft Prospects
Cliff Harris CB for Oregon has been kicked off the team. Football skills wise, he can run with any receiver in the league. Also most of his picks have come against great QB's (Locker, Luck, Cam Newton, Barkley). I saw in a mock draft that it had us taking him; In the third round I'd definitely take him..(Oh and he can return punts and kicks even better than Banks; think Patrick Peterson type of returner, maybe even better)

I would imagine that his draft stock would drop a lot given what has happened. So I would take him in a lower round. Although I hope he doesn't become the pothead version of Pacman Jones. |
